Kennebunk 2 Biddeford

September, 2021 by nap789

I’ve ridden Kennebunk to Biddeford a couple of times in the past week (late Sept), the trail is well maintained and marked. The few vehicle crossings have cross walks and signage for drivers. This is a beautiful trail that I would highly recommend, looking forward to riding all the way to South Portland!

Winnipesaukee River Trail

decent trail

Not bad. Started in Franklin. Tilton not that bad. Need to use street for a bit, stay on north side of Rt 3 in sidewalk. Ends at a McDonalds and Super 8 ( not motel 6). Good ride, too short

Goffstown Rail Trail

Fun Ride with Some Nice Surprises

September, 2021 by nhsteeler

This trial is great for those who like to mountain bike, but are not hardcore. It is mostly gravel with a few sandy and paved areas here and there. Trail starts around 1/4 mile from West Side Arena in Manchester which is where we parked (and it goes seamlessly into the Piscataqoug Trail) until right before the center of Goffstown. There are some real fun surprises on here like a few spots to go swim and/or fish at Glen Lake, a few good scenic spots to take pictures, etc.

Bruce Freeman Rail Trail

great ride.

This might be one of my new favorites. Clean paths, Nice crossings, Plenty of places to rest. There is only one bumpy area on the hole trail. Small complaint: the parking directions need to be updated. The office building is called Cross Point and the highway exits have changed. Otherwise , this is a nice way to spend an afternoon .

Martin H. Burns Wildlife Management Area Trail

Not Ready for Road Biking

September, 2021 by zemlinsky

I managed to get thru the I-95 to Newburyport section with great difficulty on a road bike, but would never do that again. About seven major puddles/ponds about 10-20 ft long. Most were 8-10inches but one was 2ft deep in the middle and I had to wade thru the water, not way to go around. Most others you can walk around at the edge with the bike steadying you, rolling thru the water. Late afternoon in August, the wife and I were attacked by hundreds of mosquitos, pretty miserable. As others have said, gravel/sand is bad in some spots where tires sink and you must walk. About 75% you can ride on a road bike at jogging speed. Would not recommend except for very dry weather or hardy mountain biker. I'll wait until the bridges are built.

Roland Bergeron Bike Path

Nice bike path.

September, 2021 by dhaigney

Enjoyed the ride as there were not too many people using this path. It is along the roadside so it is not a wooded scenic path. The upside to this if you get hurt you would be found immediately. You can get some miles in especially if you do the path twice. Parked in the police parking lot. It can't get safer than that! I enjoy it very much and will be using this bike path a lot.

Border to Boston Trail

nice ride

September, 2021 by zt48cdpc6p

I started from my house in S Peabody and caught the Peabody side from Northshore mall. Took the trail to the end in Ipswich. About 13.5 miles each way. Thought quite a few crossings it’s still a nice ride. All trails are taken care of until you get deep into Ipswich where it is more a bridle path bur rideable. The trail thins out quite a bit with gullets on Both sides, kinda scary looking? Still, nice ride and looking forward to doing it again this fall when the trees are turning. Have fun

Mountain Division Trail

Beautiful day for an easy ride

September, 2021 by nikoniko

We parked at the Windham PO and rode along the tracks until we got to Rt-35, did a bit of exploring at the Otter Ponds, then came back. It was a sweet ride: no bugs, great Sharon weather—we were a little disappointed that we couldn’t go directly to the Lake, but I see now we could have gone left and gotten to the water…. Next time. We stopped at the Orchard Ridge Farm and had a delicious cider donut at the intersection with Sebago Lakes Rd. ~10

Could use a repaving for bikes

September, 2021 by mrowley6

The tree roots and frost heaves make biking a bit of a pain. Maybe that's the plan, to use those for speed bumps?

Cotton Valley Rail-Trail

Fun ride in the woods!

August, 2021 by demcvane

This trail is for mountain or hybrid bikes, definitely not road bikes.
Agree with others in that there are more pedestrians near Wolfboro but the trail gets much less traveled the farther away you go.
Also agree that the trails are narrow but this is not an issue because the visibility is so good. Most of the time, you can see people coming from other direction literally hundreds a feet ahead of time. I did get stuck behind a few slower bikers but was able to pass at one of the railroad track crossovers.
As the railroad track crossovers, you just have to slow down and ensure your front tire is crossing at a 90 degree angle. I didn’t have any issues at all but just be mindful, slow down and steer the front tire to cross over perpendicular to the rail.
So, definitely some things to consider and manage but well worth it in my opinion.
