We went on a busy Sunday afternoon and found friendly people and plenty of cool dogs to pet. The trial is well maintained and features views of woods, a quiet creek, and slices of urban life. Great place for a walk.
KCMO did this trail well, and it is an important foundational piece. As the Blue River Parkway trail expands, this section already connects the Tomahawk and Indian Creek Trails to the west, and will eventually extend downstream toward the Stadiums, which will connect it with the Henry Wiggins Trolley Track Trail on its way, and ultimately the Rock Island Spur of the Katy Trail State Park. To the south, it will further extend along the Blue River into Johnson County, and eventually networks being built there for the Coffee Creek Trail.
Nice Trail, not always the best marked. Lightly used.
They are doing this trail right! The current Northern end, which goes through Lee's Summit, is brand new, and very well done suburban trail. The main segment, which goes from Pleasant Hill to Windsor, is well done, and well maintained. We have seen the State on this checking for downed trees, washouts, etc. after storms.
Cannot wait for it to be fully linked to KC!
Years ago, this was my local trail. It is fairly well designed, and long enough to provide a good long ride for the family. Look forward to when this is extended to the Rock Island Trail!
I have ridden this trail multiple times. The Northern end is quite busy, and there are several crossings throughout, so definitely a recreational trail. The further south you take the trail, the more quiet and remote the trail becomes. Trail crosses a few parking lots in Brookside and Waldo.
I have ridden this all the way to the end at 85th and Prospect, and then continued on to the Blue River Parkway. Will love it when this connects to the Blue River trails someday. The last mile of the trail is rough, overgrown and neglected.
I have taken the whole family here multiple times. Very few road crossings, and wide open rides. Easy parking near the mountain bike trails. This is basically a levee ride, so flat, and smooth gravel riding.
I ride this trail often, and find it to be a great location, and enjoyable to ride for a casual ride. Can get congested with walkers and the riders.

This trail has a wide variety in its current iteration. Chipped gravel, concrete, asphalt, dirt, and making its way south with original scree. Several parts, especially as you progress south are low travelled, and once you get closer to 89th, it becomes more overgrown and rugged. Would love to see this developed fully all the way down to the junction at the Flint Hills Nature Trail.
Simple, easy trail. Not terribly wide, but smooth.
Well Maintained. Good access to neighboring communities. Nestled among both residential and industrial areas.
Pleasant Hill to 1 hour and back. Nice trail with normal overhead canopy debris here and there. Very smooth concrete bridges. Some short washed out sections repaired with larger loose gravel not yet compacted. Very monotonous compared to some other rail trails , but good for conversation. Averaged 13-17mph. The highlight of the day trip was the Wyoming Street Wine Stop after the ride.
