Great Trails For Terra Trikes

April, 2020 by 1jrswitz

I ride a 3 wheel Terra Trike. I began in Wauconda, IL & rode north to Round Lake and then back down Fairfield Rd to Gilmer to the bike trail. Did this 4/10/20. Totaled 27 miles and 3 hours. Got a great workout. Am 70 years old, am 6’1”, weigh 290. So got a great workout on very scenic trail. Well maintained. Great topography. Thank you Lake County Forest for providing a lot of various trails!

Top Notch Trail w Rollers

April, 2020 by ckhalle

This is a wonderful trail for bikes! Very wide tails traverse forest preserves, wetlands, and residential areas. Gently rollIng hills. At least 20 miles of limestone/gravel so choose wider tires. Well marked, restrooms provided and nicely maintained. Note there are no rest stops along the way so be sure to pack food and lots of water.

Des Plaines River Trail

fantastic access to preserves

April, 2020 by booksgirl411

I grew up biking this trail so I’m very partial, but it was a great place to spend time outside, challenge myself, and explore. The fact that I could bike from my house to the DPR trail and have relatively safe access to so many forest preserves was fantastic. Quick stops off at independence grove to ride around the lakes or Dairy Queen to grab ice cream made it fantastic. Just rode again after not having visited in four years and it’s just as good as I remember, just have to watch for flooded underpasses in the spring (fun to ride through in the summer though when they’re flooded)

Meadowbrook Trail

took it from the park and ride was about a 30 minute walk, great paved path right next to the highway

Oak Leaf Trail

I walked it all in 1 day.

February, 2020 by rockbrentwood

I've been on every part of the trail, hundreds and even thousands of times in some places, since it was called the 76 trail; and other nearby wild areas that were de facto part of the trail before officially being made so.

On one occasion, this included circumnavigating the county on foot in 1 day; through almost every municipality in the county, mostly on the trail, but briefly off and beyond it into Waukesha county.
