Southwind Rail Trail

Nice ride

June, 2018 by fdowell

Rode this trail from Iola to Humbolt and back, and then stumble on the single track trail outside of Iola. That was really nice too! We camped in Humbolt and that was disappointing with the noise from a local plant and the bathrooms were quite dirty.

Great Bicycle Ride

August, 2017 by amjosp

Husband and I rode this trail in July on a cooler day. Started at Jo Allyn Lowe Park where there is a nice parking lot. We rode to Johnstone park and back which we guessed to be around 18 miles round trip. The trail is beautiful and clean. Encountered quite a few joggers and a few cyclists. Our favorite part was the suspension bridge, but the entire length of trail that we rode we loved. We were already planning our next ride there before we left.

You want it? Lehigh's got it!

April, 2017 by billsjunk20032003

The Lehigh Trail, at the south edge of Iola, KS has something for everyone. The main trail offers a hard-packed limestone screening surface, firm enough for hiking, biking, wheel chairs, and strollers, and is an excellent surface for the casual hiker/biker. For those who want something more challenging, there are single-track trails over rocks, through wooded areas, through tall grass, and along the edge of its namesake rock quarry. Lehigh has it all!

A Nice Trail

October, 2016 by gzymmb

We rode this from Riverside Park south for about 3 miles. It is a flat trail that is maintained pretty well. We enjoyed it, but it was right at sundown so we couldn't go any farther..

Pathfinder Parkway

Too hilly, to skinny..

October, 2016 by gzymmb

This trail was not an easy one to ride on for recreational riders like ourselves. We started at the Price Rd. park, but didn't make it far since it was such a battle to negotiate the trail. We ended up just riding 5 miles around the park ( also quite hilly ).

Well Worth the Trip

The trial is prefect for any nature freak or outdoorsy type. Animals are everywhere, trees are all over, and you eve get a few beautiful glimpses of the Caney River. The trail ranges from very easy to a bit challenging in some places. Bring the entire family and enjoy the day. I would suggest starting on the south end in the park.

First Trail Ride

This is an amazing trail. VERY WELL maintained and very easy to ride. My friends and I rode this trail last week from Humbolt to Iola and from there rode the Prairie Spirit Trail on up to Colony where we had lunch. Then we rode back to Humbolt. I was so impressed, and it was so beautiful with the tree canopies and the big bridge. I am planning on coming back and bringing my husband so he can experience this beautiful trail too. I would give this trail 10 stars if I could.

Fun ride

April, 2015 by hdhaskell

I ran this trail yesterday and it was a good 1 hour round trip. It's well maintained; I did it using a gravel-oriented road bike (32 mm tires) and had no problems. It's scenic, with fields, forests, and streams, and abandoned railroad signal boxes. There is parking at both ends.

Pathfinder Parkway

great trail

January, 2015 by lucky 54

I rode this for 14 miles and it was beautiful. It has some debris on the trail but not enough to be even a slight problem. There is tons of wildlife and beautiful scenery. Not many signs but it still isn't hard to follow.

meh

Kudos to any town willing to invest in creation of a trail like this. Mostly quiet and away from traffic. Doesn't look like trail gets much attention; branches, debris, and fallen trees cover the trail. Trail doesn't have much signage. Could get disorientated when trail splits.

I live in Iola and use this trail several times a week. Maintained very well.
