Reservoir Park Greenway

Great running trail, gorgeous scenery!

September, 2017 by amberazul14

I have wobbly ankles so some of the trail was moderately challenging (as opposed to running on flat asphalt) but it is truly gorgeous scenery and a lovely run. The restrooms were clean, the views were gorgeous and I look forward to running here frequently and bringing my kids to kayak. I'd easily rate it 5 stars, however I tripped on a root and gouged my knee pretty badly. If I wasn't so clumsy this would definitely rate 5 out of 5 stars.

Good walk

People complaining about sand, that gives you more exercise. I did not think the sand was bad at all. I did the walk from Reservoir park to NIcks creek. Nice little hike

The course for the parts I could find. Unfortunately after the first half mile there weren't markers so difficult to follow

Cape Fear River Trail

Great trail!

September, 2016 by yogirider

Six of us rode the trail today. Two on hybrid bikes, two on mountain bikes, two on recumbent trikes. What a great trail! We started at the north end. I had read the reviews about the hills, and unfortunately we started at the uphill end of the trail. The first leg of the ride was fun with all the downhill rides, but we were dreading the return trip. But the good news is that as much as we were all dreading the return ride, it really wasn't that bad. Some of us walked our bikes up the steepest (2) but short hills, others of us just put it in our lowest gear and slowly got to to the top.

We all wished this trail was longer because it was a very pretty ride and very relaxing. If we are back in the Fayetteville area again, we will ride the trail again, maybe even twice! It is 11.4 miles round trip, end to end.

Forest Creek Access

Too much sand!

Terrible trail for riding bikes or even walking. The trail is getting wider in spots as people try to find a way around the deep sand. It does provide a connection to the nice Forest Creek Trail and Reservoir Loop Trail.

Longleaf Access Trail

southern pine greenway connector

We rode from southern pine and connected with 2 other trails there are maps at the trailhead We rode two of the three connectors. The third connector is a paved road that goes around the third lake? Our two loops was 13 miles. Hilly and patches of deep sand. Great ride!

Cape Fear River Trail

Raven Rock without the stumps, spiderwebs, and of course the Rock :-)

August, 2015 by lisaadams.writer

I'm a NC native and have been to several trails. This Cape Fear Trail is brilliant! Smooth surfaces, all asphalt and wood for the bridges. The covered bridge under the railroad tracks is amazing!

Everyone on the trail was so friendly! Tons of "Good Mornings", head nods, smiles. I only got to the mile two marker before I turned around, but already have a friend going with me next week. I will park at one trail head and she the other so we can walk the full 5.5 miles. I CAN'T wait to see it all!

There are 3 hills in the first mile from the Jordon Soccer Complex that are pretty rough, the worse at the .9 mile marker. The second mile was smooth and very gentle inclines and declines.

Pinehurst Greenway

Pinehurst Local

January, 2015 by d.monty

I live near this Greenway and use it regularly. It is a mostly gravel trail with some sandy sections and even a few paved areas. Some nice board walks and bridges are used in the wetter areas. There are at least two kiosk maps now but it can still be confusing when the trail nears the central villiage.
You can find water at the Rassie Wicker Park. The nearby town of Southern Pines has a nice Greenway system too.
