Lots of hills , nice paved path part is only about 1.5 miles. The long trail toward I 85 very hilly and big rock gravel .
I’ve rode and walked this trail several times. However using different programs the distance one way is 1.8 miles not 2.
Mostly flat by the catawba river best joy ride in Charlotte Metro area. After your ride enjoy a adult beverage at the Pump House , Brass Tap or Grapevine at the end. If you go all the way to river park it's about 4 miles not 2.5.
We started at the area close to The Pump House. I believe the trail is longer than 2.5 miles. Scenery is nice. Somewhat shaded.
Great greenway for bikers. I used to ride this trail almost every day. Most people you encounter on the trail are friendly and courteous.
Park at the start of the trail off Pineville-Matthews Road and you'll have an almost 12 mile ride roundtrip. At the end of the trail in one direction there's a Starbucks, so it's also a great place to grab a cup of coffee before you head back.
The trail is pretty open on the 4 mile section and then gets heavily populated with walkers, joggers and families on the 1.75 mile section that heads to Piper Glen. On weekends you'll spend a lot of time navigating around folks.
Well maintained paved and gravel roads and wooden boardwalks. When there's a lot of rain it tends to flood in certain areas. Be very careful on days when it's rained and the boardwalks are wet. They're extremely slick and I've seen riders take really bad falls.
A lot of great wildlife to look at. I've seen snakes, turtles, herons, hawks, possums and loads of deer.
The look of the greenway changes a lot with the seasons so the ride never gets boring.
The trail is now 3.3 miles I believe & has some good hills to climb. It’s a beautiful ride, great atmosphere, safe & has some wonderful places to relax afterwards (Grape Vine, Brass Tap, etc).
This is a nice trail that backs up to a neighborhood. It is adphalted and smooth. It can be deceiving in that you see a lot of gravel before seeing the trail.
Trail is ok. Not a fan of hills after living where I did before. Trail is clean and shaded somewhat.
Nice tree lined trail.
Rode after a week of rain. The trail was wet and muddy. Even with that it was enjoyable. A mixture of crushed stone, asphalt and boardwalks. Saw lots of wildlife including 6 deer.
Well marked trail. No hills and nice view of the trolley blue line. Very nice ride.
Great ride along Sugar Creek. Lots of historical markers explaining construction of the restoration of Sugar Creek through downtown Charlotte.
