the last 4.8 miles are being prepared for paving! Active construction was seen and good progress being made. When it is complete, it will be over 12 miles of smooth, new pavement.

Piedmont Medical Center Trail

Best joy ride in Charlotte

August, 2018 by reisfenceinc

Mostly flat by the catawba river best joy ride in Charlotte Metro area. After your ride enjoy a adult beverage at the Pump House , Brass Tap or Grapevine at the end. If you go all the way to river park it's about 4 miles not 2.5.

Railroad Grade Road

Piedmont Medical Center Trail

Well Maintained

We started at the area close to The Pump House. I believe the trail is longer than 2.5 miles. Scenery is nice. Somewhat shaded.

Railroad Grade Road

It's absolutely beautiful, but it's still a road

July, 2018 by sharonwahrmund

This trail is a secondary road that travels alongside the New River. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. The road is flat, which is odd for the NC mountain area. I went on a Monday and it was pretty quiet, but you will see some vehicles.

Railroad Grade Road

Beautiful ride

Worth the drive for this scenic ride through the.country. Ride the trail on a weekday and the traffic was fine. Don’t forget to eat the sticky buns at Todd Mercantile Store.

Crushed gravel surface from Forest City to Spindale to Ruth with asphalt pavers on the trail today laying down a new 12 ft wide asphalt surface! Nice snowcone stop on the trail at Serendipity Snowcones in Spindale. We parked at the library/gym.

Lower McAlpine Creek, McMullen Creek & Four Mile Creek Greenways

Favorite Greenway in Charlotte

July, 2018 by tjonesy

Great greenway for bikers. I used to ride this trail almost every day. Most people you encounter on the trail are friendly and courteous.

Park at the start of the trail off Pineville-Matthews Road and you'll have an almost 12 mile ride roundtrip. At the end of the trail in one direction there's a Starbucks, so it's also a great place to grab a cup of coffee before you head back.

The trail is pretty open on the 4 mile section and then gets heavily populated with walkers, joggers and families on the 1.75 mile section that heads to Piper Glen. On weekends you'll spend a lot of time navigating around folks.

Well maintained paved and gravel roads and wooden boardwalks. When there's a lot of rain it tends to flood in certain areas. Be very careful on days when it's rained and the boardwalks are wet. They're extremely slick and I've seen riders take really bad falls.

A lot of great wildlife to look at. I've seen snakes, turtles, herons, hawks, possums and loads of deer.

The look of the greenway changes a lot with the seasons so the ride never gets boring.
