Great Ride Many Don’t Know About

June, 2021 by nhsteeler

I only started riding this trail this year and after primarily riding rail trails I found it a refreshing challenge. It varies in elevation so it is more challenging than say a Londonderry or Derry. However the best part is that it is MUCH less crowded! I tend to go here on the weekends simply because there won’t be nearly as many people on it. There are a few places to park along the trail, but I recommend the fire station or school. It is not the most scenic ride (it is not bad by any means but not as good as other trails), but the challenge and convenience factors rate it high in my book.

Good Commuter Trail

June, 2021 by slipsoup

This trail goes along a road, through residential areas and by a couple of parks. It's very safe with some road crossings. It's a bit confusing because the bike path continues after the "End" sign. If you're particularly looking for a scenic ride, this isn't it. However, it's the perfect trail for commuting or to go back and forth on to put in some miles.

Winnipesaukee River Trail

meh

June, 2021 by jimmyfries

Road today July 16, 2021 absolutely bluebird of a day. You definitely want to start in Franklin as other reviews have mentioned. Park inTrestle Brook Park. Which is quite nice beautiful green grass benches to sit on and right on the Winnepesaukee river. When the first section of the trail ends you’ll come to a collection of old cabooses. From that point towards Tilton the trail isn’t that great you have to go through a big section of downtown I believe Tilton to pick up the trail again and at that point you’re on an active track so the trail is next to the tracks which ends near the McDonald’s in Tilton at a kind of sketchy old Motel six

I love this trail, well maintained easy to ride and friendly people along the way. Thou I have not completed the entire trail, it’s definitely on my list of riding goals.

Dover Community Trail

love this trail

I have not done the whole trail, but for an out of town cyclist, the section from the train station to fisher street is a stress free option to the narrow, crowded roads of Dover.

Wide Tires Are Best

May, 2021 by capekat777

Today marked my first time on the trail after moving to the area at the end of last year. Great for walking/hiking but not so much biking unless you have really wide, sturdy tires. Around the Lebanon line the trail seems to have been heavily sanded, which means very tough going for casual riders. Seasoned riders will appreciate the solitude and scenery. Next time I go I’ll likely walk.

Mountain Division Trail

Paved path that runs parallel to the tracks- an excellent ride for the family- some hills and a couple stops at intersecting roads. About 5 to 6 miles round trip.

Rockingham Recreational Rail Trail (Fremont Branch)

Started in Epping went as far as Fremont then back. 3 1/2 hours round trip. Nice views of wet lands and forest.

National Grid Destruction

April, 2021 by prambach

This was once a magnificent five star trail with an astonishing variety of plant species that supported a myriad of mammals, pollinator insects, reptiles and birds, and that did not compromise the power lines that run above it through a large wetland. But this past winter of 2020 National Grid completely decimated every living thing beneath their lines and up to the woods that run parallel. All that's left now are dead sticks and stumps. So far, National Grid has not used herbicides to inhibit regrowth and at least the wood ducks have returned to breed. But the trail is now a depressing sight. I can only hope that in time, nature will endure and re-establish what was once there and that utility companies like National Grid will be prevented by law from ever committing what was tantamount to an environmental crime. This is something I will work to ensure.

Excellent Ride

March, 2021 by fjg6p22mpx

I rode this trail on my mountain bike with my 3yr old nephew in the rear-mounted toddler seat. Excellent ride with terrific views, plenty of spots to safely pull aside, if necessary. Yes, as others have said, the trail does get narrow on the causeway. However, visibility is excellent. One has plenty of time to adjust their position for oncoming riders & pedestrians. The transitions over the rails are very well marked. The transitions should cause no issues for a mountain bike, hybrid or gravel bike. This would not be a trail for a true road bike with slicks or narrow tires, as a rule. Rode mid-week at the height of summer with no issues navigating other users. Enjoy!

Nice spring walk-full sun, cleared path with side trails that are clearly marked (part of Camp Denison).
