Provo River Parkway

unexpectedly lovely trail

We rode this Oct 1st. We stayed at Lakeside RV Campground and were able to ride right out of the CG to the trail. The first 2-3 miles are so beautiful by the river and with a huge tree canopy. There are some pesky tree roots that have gone under the trail pavement making bumps. We just try to ignore the inconvenience. There’s a closure that’s shown on the map but an easy to follow diversion to get around and back on the trail. Then it goes thru some parks and underpasses and behind some nice houses.

Hobble Creek Bike Path

wife is new to biking and fully approved

The path was smooth and had recently been re-paved which made the ride smooth and consistent. There is a small parking lot at the beginning of the trail which we realized after we did the ride.

Provo River Parkway

Provo River Parkway and Canyon

May, 2024 by shastaron

Rode this trail from Utah Lake State Park up to Vivian Park and back. The first 10 miles are mostly in town even though you follow the river. The river make the ride cooler and more casual. The last 5 is moving through the canyon with the roadway nearby and can be loud. Mostly a gentle climb all the way to the turn around point. Of the first 10 miles about 6 of those miles are the roughest paved trail I have ever been on. Hopefully with all the 2024 construction that will improve. Mostly a downhill ride coming back. Be careful since there is a lot of foot traffic and several underpasses that are single lane only. Some of the in town sections near BYU are very narrow. Be patient.

We rode this trail today from Coalville to Park City and back. It's a nice ride and the noise from i80 was not as bad as we expected.

Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail State Park

great ride except the last 4 miles to tresses

October, 2022 by djones4412

This is a great ride with beautiful scenery but…the last leg after going through Coalville is a carpet of “goat head puncture weeds” so you had better have very puncture resistant tires on your bike. This trail really needs some love from whoever is charged with caring for it. I have never seen so many puncture weeds on one trail. My friend had to replace both inter tubes after our ride.

Great Ride

June, 2022 by hredd

We rode from Park City to Coalville. The weather was perfect, sunny but cool. The scenery was better than usual as the area has had some precipitation recently. The trail was in great shape until we got two miles from Coalville where it got a little rough. Having said that, we were going 14 to 15 mph so it wasn't that rough. This trail had everything today, green vegetation, red rock, lush farmland, cattle, deer, sheep and lots of rock chucks. Overall it was a great ride and I would give the trail five stars if the last two miles were as smooth as the first 19.

Mapleton Lateral Canal Trail

we’ll do this again

April, 2022 by lynn.ogden42

This is an enjoyable trail with great mountain and field views and some very nice high-end back yards. Yes, there are a lot of gates and street crossings on the north half. There is an abrupt termination at the south end with no access. Don’t plan on entering there. It would be nice Connect it with trails going south and have access.

The trail is closed about a thousand yards west of the Lakeshore trailhead. Construction on a new bridge that's being built.
