I read the reviews and went in not expecting much. But there are some updates. For reference, I rode an electric mountain bike, starting at the New Boston trailhead and going 10 miles towards the west and back. In New Boston there is good parking near the town center. For the first couple of miles there is an older concrete path that goes through the town and by T P Lake. There are some shady places that are nice. This section is 3 or 4 stars. After mile 3 and the intersection at HWY 98, the surface is new asphalt! It’s very smooth and wide. The scenery, however, is not very pleasant. Mostly it runs along HWY 82. While the distance from traffic is enough to feel safe, it is not enough to quiet the road noise. Five (5) stars for the trail condition, 1 star for the vibe. As of May 2026, the asphalt ends around mile 7. It looks like they plan to do more, however. The dirt path after the asphalt ends is rough and full of knee-high grass. I rode out to mile 10 before turning around. One (1) star for this section. Later I drove out to the town of Avery, a bit west of De Kalb. There the surface is crushed rock and seemingly in good condition. There were “Road Closed” signs, however, which could be ridden around. But I was unclear why it was closed. Three (3) or four (4) stars around Avery.
Started in Farmersville. Very peaceful, love the sound of the birds, nice paved trail
Started on the trail in Farmersville. It's a quaint town with parking right a the trail head. The first couple of miles were well-maintained and paved. Then the trail switched to crushed rock. Still able to cycle but had to watch out for holes in the path and uneven transitions to bridges. Then right where the trail crossed FM2194, the trail turned into two tire ruts just filled with large rocks. Passable by mountain bike but not on my street bike.
Started it at the very nice New Boston trailhead and after 3 miles the asphalt disappears into dirt and grass. It’s very doable on a gravel or mt. bike but this is not a paved greenway by any means. Hopefully it eventually becomes one.
Drove up to the Farmersville trailhead and left from the Onion Shed. Lots of cracked pavement for the first segment (~1 mile). Good concrete segment for next mile or so. Then it’s crushed granite with some washout in sections. Turned around after ~5 miles at FM2149 as trail surface was crushed gravel and very rough ride.
Not worth your travel time. Trail is non-existent. Drove an hour to check it out and never got the bike off the carrier. An enjoyable drive through Texas and Oklahoma is all we got out of it. Should not list this "trail".
Longview is listed to have three trails, Cargill, Guthrie and Boorman. This is true BUT all three connect seamlessly!! You can bike from one end to the other making for a 10 mile one way trip or 20 miles round trip! The trails are beautifully landscaped and cared for with benches and workout stations. Highly populated with beautiful cardinals and an occasional bunny rabbit. Green grass beautiful and always mowed length of Boorman trail and Guthrie Trail. Trail is wide concrete on these two. Cargill portion has many more hills, but is also beautiful, but asphalt surface. These trails are so shady and therefore beautiful in the

How did this get called a bike trail? It's just worn grass going thru DeKalb and once you actually find a path, it's high weeds and not maintained. Worst bike trail I have ever tried to ride. Lucky it's next to a road so you can at least get back and go home.
