Easy trail with wide open views. Well maintained for one small area that needs some goat head bushes trimmed. Nice benches at several points to take a break. No shade, except under one bridge, so be prepared if it’s summer. We ended up on several nice bike/walk paths in housing developments on the southern end that took us back to our motel off 580. Easy For families with kiddos.
Very nicely paved well maintained with benches and trash cans along Veterans PKY and Sparks Drive.
It's such a beautiful trail. My only concern is that the dogs are not on leashes, they are allowed to run around freely. Yes they are adorable, playful whatever, but they have teeth!
Went biking with my 11 year old on 8.12.17, Saturday. We started at the trail head on the steep hill from the Truckee River Regional Park's parking lot. We rode a total of 8.36 miles downstream and back. The landscape, wildlife, countless bird species, river, and sky were a breath of fresh air for us. Segments of shady trees in between sunny spots to rest at as well as benches to sit on and take in the surrounding beauty. Bring lots of water and snacks. Highly recommended. #leaveonlyfootprints #packoutwhatyoupackin, #LoVEarth
This trail is beautiful! It runs along the Truckee river, away from roads and is a great ride for the entire family. It is fairly flat, and the Truckee river is gorgeous during this incredible spring thaw we are experiencing. There are bike rentals available in downtown Truckee at Bike Truckee.
I rode this trail today. It was in perfect shape and the views are wonderful. Suitable for any kind of bike.
We parked at the little dirt lot off of Murphy and Vanpatten near the North trail head. We followed the trail all the way to Kings Canyon before turning around. And of course we stopped at the park to play for a little before riding back to eat at the our vehicle. Nice paved trail through a residential area.
An interesting desert environment with open views. Started at ( N39.18655 W119.79301 ) on wide asphalt trail with short ups & downs. Then it enters residential area after passing a cinder block fence. Many types of vegetation along the streets. Many side trails along each side of the washes, allowing return to the trail. Used bike lanes along Longview Way. Lots of Bob White Quail.
Restrooms and drinking fountains in the parks. Noel J Keller 30 Apr 09
