While scenic, this trail is not marked at all. Even while on the outside trail loop, it was difficult to tell which direction to go at major trail intersections. Trail markings are essential to communicate where a hiker is currently, and where you need to go next. If you don't have WiFi, you can't count on referencing GPS or TrailLinks online map--which can be downright unsafe if you're a novice hiker or have young children.
Visited at the end of December and it was a great trail to do with kids ages 11, 8, and 5. Plenty to explore and nicely maintained, flat trail. Plenty of trees offer some protection from the wind.
What a great trail. Lots of places to stop for lunch too. I will be back.
Just updating the info for this trail, it is now open end to end. Enjoy.
Well kept, wide trail on level ground; it was a great walk. Some bike riders went by with plenty of room to spare. The air smelled fresh and clean. We walked all of the trails in the park in one outing. We will return in all seasons. And it was quiet. We could hear Rte 1 from time to time; but it was not intrusive.
We just took a crisp mid-October ride and it was very doable, flat, and easy. The bridge over had a great view of Ocean City. Only downside is you may ride along backup of cars getting into park. On the horses, its good to manage your expectations. You definitely know they are there because there are plenty of horse pies on the trail that you may need to dodge. We actually did see one after going off a side trail. One frustrated woman yelled out to the Park Ranger asking where the horses were. Answer: “They are wild mam! I cant tell you where they are at any given time.” ¿¿
Best of both worlds - bayside ride and forest ride. Great playground for the kids. Picnic areas along the way just off the trail with tables/benches.
Nice mix of wooded and open trail, good views of the waterfront. Will do this ride again.
9/27/20. Was just on this trail. Yes, there is a bit of maintenances work underway, but now there is a clearly marked detour. The detour is on the adjacent road, but it is short (less than 300 yards), clearly marked, and on a wide shoulder.
