It’s a pretty trial that connects to Heart of Villas trial system. We biked from St Germaine to Sayner. Just keep in mind there is a “very steep hill” with warning signs as you get close ¿¿ to walk your bike which I didn’t do and fell off my bike going back up the hill (scraped my elbow) but it could have been worse 😜
Nice trail, easy riding. Only negative would be small section runs parallel with main road. Other than that very good trail
I tried out the trail in Watersmeet. Even my 700c by 45mm gravel tirees were no match for the loamy rutted ATV trail that was full of wash board bumps. The trail is so rough, even the local ATVers use the road instead wherever they can.
Unless you have a fat tire and don’t mind ATVs have at it. I tried with my gravel bike and turned back after about 50 feet.
Rode this trail on a perfect “biking weather” day! Trail is paved and well maintained. Parts are winding but fairly flat. Many shaded portions. Went across bridges. Stopped in Manitowish Waters at Dixie’s coffee shop - great place with excellent service. This trail is hard to beat!
Smooth asphalt, perfect amount of hills and curves, beautiful forests and lakes. Pure bliss.
A good deal of this stretch is on old county roads, and some are bumpy. Otherwise it’s beautiful and smooth like the rest of the Heart of Vilas trail.
This is an ATV trail which is NOT part of your description. I only went 20 miles on it and, even with the widest gravel tires the “rugged” disclaimer doesn’t suit the trail. There are huge holes left by atv tires. Most of the roads to cross were high up and I had to walk my bike up and down the sides of the intersection. The only people I met were on motor vehicles and I was covered in red dust by the time I returned to my car. Huge disappointment. Please fix your description ASAP!
Outside of Ashland, the tarmac ends. Some mud due to recent rains, but nothing the all terrain tires couldn’t handle. Washboard at the intersections. No other cyclists encountered. Just side by side ATVs, but actually light traffic mid week. I’d do it again.
