Like the Eagles 1972 hit song, this well-established trail was both peaceful and easy. I biked from Oshkosh to Hortonville and back. The trail was mostly nestled under a canopy of trees. The sides of the trail were mowed and I did very little tree-branch ducking. For the most part, the trail surface was solid and bone dry. Beware of the section next to the mountain of sand in Clayton. Some of the sand has drifted onto the trail causing slippery conditions. The loop around the Fox River Inlet in Oshkosh was a nice change of pace. On the east side of the Fox River by Hwy 21 is the Fox River Brewing Company. They have a large outdoor dining area that includes a beach house and tiki bar!
One of my favorites! Well packed, some hills and curves. A section with cedars on either side, another section where the trees form a canopy above. Truly enjoyable, ending at Point Beach where you can watch the waves of Lake Michigan crash in on a sandy beach. 5-stars for sure!
We started from Fritse park (Loop the Little Lake Trail) near Menasha and took the paved Fox Crossing Connector over to the Friendship Trail. A crushed limestone, country trail of mostly farm fields that runs along highway 10. It looks like how trails used to be before biking became more popular. Many parts are basically mowed grass with 2 ruts. There is loose stone and washed out areas. Don’t take this trail if you have poor balance or skinny tires. You can hear the highway 10 traffic noise but it’s not objectionable as it keeps you off the busy road. It has some nice hills. This trail is useful if you want to ride from Neenah and connect up with the Wiouwash Trail. The trail ends at a paved country road
We parked in Arrowhead Park. Lot of parks along this trail with bathrooms. Very nice paved trail. Mostly pretty scenic around the lake. Pelicans and shy egrets. Lots of bridges across the water. Pretty well marked. Lots of maps and signs. Passes by water treatment center, short business area, and a neighborhood of small cottages with garages. We used this trail as a jumping off point from Fritse Park to take the paved Fox Crossing trail to the unpaved Friendship trail.
