Badger State Trail

Stewart Tunnnel abandoned

July, 2024 by pressman3887

As of 7/7/24 no work done on tunnel. There isnt even a trail left, leading up to the tunnel. The tunnel project is a complete sham. Where is the 6 million dollars? Where did the insurance money go, for the bridge, north of Monroe? Time for someone to be held accountable.

Cheese Country Recreation Trail

Mismanaged

July, 2024 by pressman3887

Replace a bridge, with breaker rock up a 20 foot embankment. Where did the insurance money go? Close the tunnel, let land owners destroy the trail south of Monroe (driveways and drainage tubes). Please, who ever is in charge, QUIT.

Cottage Grove to Lake Mills and Return

July, 2024 by t5n8nj6tsn

Nice, peaceful, perfect weather Monday morning ride. There is a tree laying over the trail @ 5.3 miles from Cottage Grove. Had to duck low, but was able to ride under it on the side that is still off the ground. No other issues for this part of the trail. Very enjoyable trail.

Not too bad to ride on with bike

June, 2024 by jessedirk

I live in Darlington and this trail is near my house so it’s nice for me to go during week and just bike to path. I rarely see any ATVs ironically, but I try to go on days/hours they may not be there. ATV riders though are respectful and I slow down or stop if big group goes by. This trail is doable with a mountain bike. I gave it 4 stars since the trail is getting pretty rutty probably due to all the rain we are having, mixed with the motorized vehicles on it.

Bugline Trail (Route of the Badger)

Bug Line Review from behind Costco Gas Station to Menomonee Park

June, 2024 by 5sdc5y9xrc

The trail was nicely paved and had frequent shady spots to take a break out of the heat. Slight incline as we made are way. It was approx 5 Miles on Bike to Menomonee Park. Went swimming, had a picnic. There is a shelter. Bathrooms, changing room , shower and bubblers. You can rent kayaks. Easier coming back as the incline slants down so areas to just coast. Surprised by the cars stopping for people to let them cross. I was impressed! My legs are jello but we had a great time!

Top notch Wisconsin trail, but...

June, 2024 by danwarwick

Awesome trail, but could be superb if grass was cut in the center of the trail. I have a trike, which makes it difficult. I managed, but was slow moving. Lots to see, with a variety of scenery. Be prepared for horseflies.

I’ve used this trail hundreds of times over the years as I head into Madison, Wisconsin from Sun Prairie to bike around the lakes. This is a great trail, with many a beautiful vistas.

Jefferson County Interurban Trail

Map incomplete

June, 2024 by j.michael.klaus

As noted by the previous reviewer in June, 2023, this trail is now complete from its trailhead in Watertown to its junction with County Road F, south of Ixonia. It has been paved and open since October, 2022. Please update map. The map's satellite view actually shows the asphalt surface.

Great Rail Trail!

May, 2024 by tannermumm

My dad and I started at the trail head at Reedsburg after getting some great tips and info from Sue at the restored rail depot by the parking lot. The ride out from Reedsburg passes through some busy streets and the first mile or two were a little slick after yesterday’s rain. But this trail just got better and better the farther we rode! The rail trail is primarily crushed pea gravel and after a few miles it dried up real nice and was very stable and reliable. From Reedsburg to La Valle we rode through a mixture of woodland filled with wildflowers (purple/white flox, white daisies and pink columbine) as well as lush marshland filled with water fowl, turtles and muskrats! My favorite parts were the sandstone bluffs that rose majestically over the marshlands and just beyond Le Valle the trail cuts straight through 20 foot high limestone. We ate in La Valle at Fishy’s Bar and grill which had some excellent burgers and fries. At Reedsburg we ate at Ronnie’s which also had great food. Overall I would highly recommend this trail!

Rode from Mt. Horeb to Ridgeway and back. Beautiful countryside and the trail is great. All well kept. Can’t wait to go back!
