Sunflower Santa Fe Trail

Great for families

January, 2024 by aleasha8502

We went with some friends and kiddos. Perfect for toddlers and pushing an all terrain wagon. The benches and gazebo are nice. The kids loved waving at a passing train. We live only a few miles away. Will do this one often. It’s very well maintained. Although, it’s clear some people walk dogs and don’t clean up behind them. There was a lot of poop piles.

Good Flat Levee Trail

April, 2023 by mlane14_99

The trail is very flat and wide and well maintained with the crushed stone. The grass was cut on the sides of the trail. It passes two parks with ball fields and restrooms, but there are no benches, trash cans, or restrooms on the trail. The trail also passes by some homes and farm fields.

Meadowlark Trail

Good Stuff

October, 2021 by acewickwire

Good natural surface with some overgrowth attempting to encroach on the trail. We didn’t ride full length, started at connection with Valkommen trail in Lindsborg. Would be worth riding more, time permitting. Would be nice one trail completed.

Valkommen Trail

Nicely Done

October, 2021 by acewickwire

Nicely done trail with lots of information signs along the trail telling the history of the town and the Swedish folks that settled in the area. Paved and wide trail. South end has a connection to the Meadowlark trail for a more countryside ride. Recommend this trail when in the area. A number of other riders/walkers encountered on the trail, all with a friendly wave and Hi!

Wolverine Trail

This is a nice, short trail. We walk our dog on it almost daily. Flat terrain, both woods and open fields. The trail also connects to the disc golf course in Marquette.

Salina Levee Trail

great trail

Super nice trail with crushed stone. Many on/off access points along the way. It is not busy at all. There were a few walkers & runners. There are not many roadways to cross either

Meadowlark Trail

From North to south and back again

June, 2019 by djhanson87

I started in LIndsborg and biked all the way to the southern endpoint north of McPherson and then back again. A good way to see Kansas farmland from another perspective. You do have to do a jog leaving the trail at Shawnee, going east on paved roads to old 81 and then back over west on to Pawnee, again paved roads. There is an unfinished center portion. At Pawnee, you can see that work is being done on the trail heading north. Encountered volunteers maintaining the trail. This is a trail in evolution. Some benches/rest spots at the extreme north and south ends. An under-appreciated Central Kansas gem.

Meadowlark Trail

Nice trail

I rode the McPherson side today and with all the rain the region has had, the trail is still in fairly good condition. There are some soft spots in areas but most of al it’s a good ride.

Rough

Felt like riding a cobblestone road. I have great shocks on my mountain bike too.

Meadowlark Trail

Quality Trail that needs completion

September, 2016 by mheidric

On September 15, 2016 I rode both parts of the trail from Lindsborg south and from McPherson north on a Cyclocross bike and found the trial in great shape especially on the Lindsborg side. The ride from the Lindsborg trail head is a beautiful one with lots of shade and from McPherson a wonderful ride through mostly farm land with lots of sunflowers along the trail. There is some crop waste on much of the trial on the McPherson side but nothing that caused any problems to ride or walk through. While it is a shame there is a 5 mile piece missing in the middle of the trail it is a short jog from the trail ends to old US 81 highway so a nice 12.5 mile ride one way is still available.

Valkommen Trail

Lindsborg at Its Best

March, 2012 by drf4248

I love Lindsborg and having a rail/trail through the heart of the city is icing on the cake. (Way too bad the Sunflower Trail that went South to McPherson never got completed).

The trail is not enough to make a special trip for but the city is. So--if you're in the city and have a bicycle, take the time for this trail. Well worth it.
