Mountain Division Trail

Somewhat Disappointing

September, 2023 by tommikeleonard

This is a pretty and easy trail, but it is in real need of mainternance. The trail is in good shape from the South Windham start through the Gambo Road playing fields/parking. Once you cross over the river, the trail gets progressively worse. The biggest downfall is the amount of potholes' but there are also quite a few areas that are collapsing/leaning.

I am handicapped and ride a recumbent trike, so my perspective is a bit different than that of a mountain biker; but it would be nice if the DOT, or Gorham & Windham, put some money into maintaining the trail.

Whistle Stop Rail-Trail

Beware!

August, 2023 by backyard37_tl

We started in Livermore Falls and loved it! However, about 6 miles north, the trail is washed out and collapsed into a ravine. We tried to go around out on Main Street and up Macomber, but Macomber St was also washed out about 1/2 way up the hill and the road was closed. Will have to go South from Farmington next time!

Atvs

June, 2023 by mywhitetiger4

I love walking on the trails, I started walking there a year ago, its helped me to build my strength and lungs from struggling with long covid, its quiet and peaceful, but I'm afraid the allowing of atvs is going to ruin that, ill see how it goes but if the atvs ruin the peaceful surroundings ill be looking for another peaceful place.

Can’t wait for the trail to extend

My family goes out to Shaw park often and get right on the trail. We can’t wait for the trail to extend past our house in Steep Falls!

Eastern Trail

nice trail

Flat, quiet, road crossings are few over the first 8 miles and well lit/marked. No portapotties, which is unreasonable. Lovely ride thru forest and wetlands.

Mountain Division Trail

Nice calm ride on an e-bike.

It’s fairly narrow in most spots, but very quiet, and serene.

Eastern Trail

Saco north to Scarborough leg

September, 2022 by andrix

Plenty of parking at trailhead point off Clark St. in Saco. 8 miles one way to point where the on-rode portion begins in Scarborough. A few complex road crossings in first mile or so then only a few - and calmer - crossings remainder of ride. Scarborough Marsh area was worth the ride. Very even surface, light bike traffic and lots of shade.

Eastern Trail

Only Two Wheel Bikes

September, 2022 by g244dpz8y7

So I can only speak to the first 3 miles from the trail head in Kennebunk to mile 3. I ride a tadpole trike and found the obstacles at road crossings either just wide enough with caution to fit to one 3 mile in that I could not fit my trike at all. That means no trikes or wheel chair of any type and I would be very careful if you use a kid trailer. Overall it was a bad experience that did not need to be if the trailfiljs had put any real thought into it!!!

Kennebec River Rail Trail

Perfect morning walk!!

August, 2022 by bdloubier

Started at Capitol park entrance enjoying the walkers passing by. All were saying good morning! Great walk paved with asphalt. Follows the Kennebec River. A little disappointed it was by the waste treatment facility.
