We enjoyed this scenic trail along side the lake. We just went out and back and then headed back to Lake Hefner loop trail!
This was a nice trail to that connected the Bert Cooper trail (trail around Lake Hefner to Lake Over Holster. Only bummer is you have about 2 miles of sharing the road with traffic. Rode along side of the Willy Post Airport. We missed the turn to go over the intersection on our way to the lake but on our way back we did it correctly . This made it a better ride so just make sure you take the right path when it splits!
Very good views and clean paved walkways.
My review is limited to the OSU parking lot to Sperry only: Paved trail, somewhat shady, but not the part of town to be in. Broken glass on trail, no toilets. We were told the ride from Sperry to Skiatook was much nicer.
We’ve ridden many bike trails across the Midwest and the south and this is probably in the top ten. Scenery of the river, park trail landscaping makes for an exciting, never boring ride. Trail surface is probably the worst part of the trail due to lots of cracks in the asphalt. Could use a resurface. Overall great trail.
We parked at the Skiatook park trail head. Very nice, actually a “10”. Headed south toward tulsa. Nice trail, lots of ups and downs. Got really sketchy as we approached Turley. Lots of trash and glass along the trail. Passed an older man carrying a handgun, no kidding. He was an older guy who was friendly. Indicates trail may not always be safe in this area. No issues, kept heading south to Tulsa. Overall nice ride, just need to clean up this area.
We parked at the Regetta Park Landing. We immediately crossed over to the south side of the river and headed east. Nice smooth surface with open view of river and dowtown OKC. Turned back at the end and headed west and crossed over to north side of river at Portland Ave and headed east back to Regetta Park. This is also near canal walking trail which is very nice area. Overall a wonderful ride with great open views of the river and downtown. Well kept trail.
We connected from OK River trail on the northwest end of this trail. Immediately noticed a lot of glass throughout the trail. This was probably once a nice trail but now there are homeless camps along wooded and grassy areas, trash everywhere and just dirty. I did not really want to stop even if there were places to rest. Trail goes through a couple of parks. One, Woodson Park, really nice which was the highlight of the trip regarding cleanliness and good facilities. OKC, you need to invest in those trucks that suck up trash and clean up this trail!
This trail needs MAJOR maintenance south of the TCC campus. Tree limbs are growing out over it, preventing bicycling. The grass in places has grown 6 inches in from each side. The part going under the Creek Turnpike needs to be re-surfaced in some areas & have runoff dirt 3 inches deep removed in others. I call it the Kilimanjaro Trail leading to the hiking area where the turnpike diverges. It's like navigating a jungle to pass through it.
Great carefree ride around the lake. Very easy on an e-bike . There are inclines drops and turns that make it fun! Speed was at 26mph on one of the downhill glides.
In May 2025, I biked a total of 18 miles covering each trail to the endpoints in the parks. I rode a couple days after a huge rainstorm (I heard record breaking amounts), so a few parts of the trail were still under water. I happened to come across a local rider who guided me on some streets to get around them. It was a good trail and good for Bartlesville.
