Upper Charles Trail

Trail in good shape

September, 2017 by tangodelta

The improved section of the trail has been extended further at the Holliston end. There is now an nice packed stone dust surface starting across the street from the Sam Placentino school in Holliston and running all the way to the paved portion that starts at the Milford town line.

Windham Rail Trail

Great Afternoon Trail

Nice trail, wide, paved and easy. Fair amount of parking. Great for afternoon walks with dogs.

Blackstone River Greenway (RI)

Nice views but very bumpy

September, 2017 by al_b111

What a difference a year makes. I reviewed this trail back in June 2016 with only nice things to say. The ride has nice views along the Blackstone River. The few bumps that I encountered last year has definitely increased. The only work done on these very large bumps is spray paint them so you see them before you get injured by hitting them. I found that the area with the biggest problems are between the 2 overpasses (rt116 and rt146). But they are really everywhere.

Salem Bike-Ped Corridor

Great Trail

September, 2017 by diane.ladd

My family has been biking this trail for a couple of years now. It's very pleasant due to not having many road crossings between Salem and Derry.

Windham Rail Trail

One of 3 connecting trails

August, 2017 by slipsoup

This is a nice, easy paved trail. At the risk of sounding cocky, I've ridden a lot of rail trails and have to rate them in comparison to each other. What's great about this trail is it connects the Derry Rail Trail and the Salem Bike Ped Corridor. It also contains a bit of railroad history. If you ride all 3 round trip, you get a 16 to 17-mile ride. We parked near Sabatino's in downtown Derry, which is very close to the beginning of the Derry Rail Trail.

Nashua River Rail Trail

Nice ride.

August, 2017 by berelson_tl

We use tour bikes. As of summer 2017 'very few' tree roots. It was mostly smooth the whole way! Well paved. Could really make great time on this trail! Good for work out. Super straight trail. Very few spots are bumpy but most were marked. Some pretty views near the river. We missed the covered bridge near Pepperill.

Nashua River Rail Trail

Bumpy!

August, 2017 by cookielovenh

I used to really enjoy the trail starting in Nashua but lately it has gotten pretty bad with a ton of tree roots trying to push through the pavement.
Used to be just a few now too many to give the trail a higher rating. In addition to it being uncomfortable and potentially dangerous, I am worried my bike will get ruined-some of the cracks are very bad. Is there any effort going on to repave parts of it? It's a beautiful trail otherwise.

Assabet River Rail Trail

Nice ride.

August, 2017 by ellenkillam

This is not a super long trail but since it is pretty much all up hill going from Hudson to Marlboro, it still gives you a work out. That being said you should start in Hudson so the way back is down hill.
We did not go on the trail that starts in Maynard because it was closed.

Assabet River Rail Trail

well maintained and dog friendly!

August, 2017 by tadlewog

I parked on Sasseville Way in Marlboro and headed toward Hudson with my pooch. We walked only for about a mile and a half, but met nice people, and other dogs as well. It was well marked, clean, and even had a few trash cans along the way!

Mass Central Rail Trail

Not Dog Friendly

August, 2017 by tadlewog

I didn't find anything about whether dogs were allowed or not anywhere online. I went to two different parking areas near Holden, where they very clearly state "NO DOGS ALLOWED." I was very disappointed, as this was the explicit reason for my trip - to bring my pooch with me!

Southern New England Trunkline Trail

The description above is out of date.

August, 2017 by rogersweeny

The break after Route 122 in Blackstone now picks up at the parking lot off of Canal Street, near the corner of St. Paul Street. Going west from this point is about 3 miles of wide graded asphalt trail. The old Triad Bridge has been redone and is a safe beautiful crossing. I saw a lot of people--walking, riding bikes, pushing strollers, even skateboarding--when I rode this section a few Sundays ago.

But at the end of this section is Route 146 (a limited access divided highway) and there are no signs telling you how to cross it or to get back on the trail on the other side.
