This trail changes surfaces for 1.5 mi from beach. The asphalt paved section is very rough with lots of potholes- stay alert ! The dirt section was more enjoyable on our e-bikes... some tree roots had to be avoided but nice shady soft trail.
September 2026 - what a well maintained trail. Kudos to the team "Virginia Capital Trail Foundation" who keep this trail in tip top condition...big thanks to you all!!!
A great bike path to ride and enjoy the outdoors. A great place that is a two car wide paved path with absolutely no cars to worry about. Nice facilities along the way and friendly people. This would be a great place for a family or group ride.
I went down on one of the pre warned slippery bridges Nice offshoot to the capital trail.
I live near this trail and bike ride daily. I drive past this trail to the VA trail, as this trail is is in horrible disrepair! Camden County could spend a few dollars to fix it, but seem to think its not worth it! Drive another 8 miles north to the Virginia Dismal Swamp Canal Trail!
We just did the 11 miles from Four Mile Park to Richmond. Fully paved. Super smooth. The trailhead at Four Mile Park is gorgeous! It's as big as an interstate rest area. The trail has some longish hills
Nice paved ride that takes you into Driver. Couldn't believe we saw Jim equipment 3 miles in that had kettle bells, a bike and an elliptical plus other stuff. 4.5 miles there is a bike station for air, tools to fix your bike.
Very smooth and easy. Ran parallel with wife. Too short. Nice smooth ride.
Enjoyed the flat 5.5 mile round trip. Just beware of people who don’t look before crossing. Stay on bike path - not boardwalk.
This will be. I’ve when it is completed. The Portsmouth section is 2 miles but the ROW extended to the next part.
This paved trail is a very nice side trail off the Capital Trail. One of the history markers near Mile 1 of the Capital Trail mentions the Church on the Main. You can see this moving site via this trail, about 1/2 way in. The trail end near the school trends uphill, but not too bad and it's heavily wooded. This is great for a few extra miles.
