Very bumpy trail and Zi don’t recommend for biking as it has stairs to climb on the South end. Great walking path, beautiful scenery.

Salem Lake Trail

Fabulous Trail

This is great 7 mile loop around beautiful Salem Lake. The trail is wide and generally well maintained. It’s crushed gravel or hard packed dirt and has a couple of spots where it rutted out a bit. But I ride it often and so do many other cyclists, runners, walkers, moms pushing strollers. So it’s not really a problem. Lots of wildlife to be seen; herons, deer, turtles. Drinking water is available at a couple of points on the loop and there are plenty of benches if you need a rest. Don’t forget to take your camera on this one!!

Muddy Creek Greenway

Accessible to mobility scooter users

This is superb for those needing mobility assistance. Looking for new trails that we, lifetime hikers, can use now we are in our seventies and one of us is mobility challenged, has become a new pastime. Muddy Creek is excellent!

Dick & Willie Passage Rail Trail

Nicely maintained paved trail with very little traffic. One of the nicest we've been on. Long 3 mile steady uphill grade but it was really worth it. We also rode the Silver Bells trail and the spur trail toward uptown. Well worth the effort!

Love this trail

What a beautiful trail to ride your bicycle on. So scenic by the creek you’ll oftentimes spot heron perched on a rock looking for fish. This trail along with the connecting trail that takes you to a park off highway 103 is a 13 mile easy ride with very gentle and gradual grades that generally can be managed with one or two downshifts. Hoping to see this trail expanded in the future.

Huckleberry Trail

Huckleberry Trail head minutes from our Inn

February, 2022 by smagenheimer1

We love The Huckleberry Trail! We are the proud owners of A bed and breakfast in a historical queen Ann Victorian home. The Oaks Victorian Inn- 1893 built of the famous Wilderness Trail and just 1 mile from the current head of the Huckleberry. Electric assist bikes are easily rented to enjoy the full 14 mile length of the paved route. We have many guest use the trail to access Virginia Tech football games or campus events by bike. The views and changes in landscape is just magical and what you dreamed of seeing on a coutry trek in Virginia. What a great addition to have in the Christiansburg/Blacksburg communities.

Latham Park Greenway

Short and sweet

February, 2022 by jimmy4

For such a short trail, this one is enjoyable. The trail is all concrete and has a few hills, especially going under the roadway. With a skate park and ball fields along one side and a creek along the other, this is a nice neighborhood trail. I visited the trail in mid February with temps in the low 50s, and the trail was well used. Park at the skate park.
