Presidential Rail Trail

Challenging but worth the effort

August, 2025 by luv2bike23

The scenery along the Presidential Trail is varied and spectacular. The views of the Presidential Range are awesome and the Gorham end of the trail is almost as beautiful as it winds along the Moose River through a narrow valley. The trail surface is also varied and it's very bumpy in spots. I found it almost painful to complete the trail on a gravel bike, which is why I only rated it with four stars. A short-travel full-suspension mountain bike is probably ideal for this trail. This was definitely one of the most beautiful rail-trails I've ridden and I can't wait to ride it again during the autumn.

Warren to East Haverhill Railroad Grade Trail

ride the rocket from Warren to East Haverill

August, 2025 by pnelson4

Starting at the rocket site in Warren there was heavy ATV traffic kicking up enough dust to make the bike ride less enjoyable than it would be w/o them. The section from GlenCliff to E.Haverill where ATVs are not allowed is heavily overgrown and could really use a fully groomed makeover. We ride gravel bikes not mountain bikes and bailed out onto Rt 118 partway along due to poor trail conditions. Scenic corridor with untapped potential if given some tender love and care.

Winnipesaukee River Trail

Worthy trail

August, 2025 by georgerisktaker

Most of the trip is a rail trail of good quality. The ride through Tilton is on the road and can be tricky at one intersection. The "About this Route" provides a good description. The Tilton end of the trail by MacDonalds and Super 8 is not for trail parking. Use the address shown which is within 1 mile of the end of the trail. Franklin is a great town to visit.

Lake Winnisquam Scenic Trail

Fun but short

August, 2025 by georgerisktaker

Great views and we enjoyed the changes in grade and the turns, but a very short trail. Must be combined with Winni Trail, but that is also short.

WOW Trail

Old Town Trail

August, 2025 by georgerisktaker

Most of the trip is paved and runs through the town of Laconia. There appear to be homeless people (campers at least) on one portion of the trail. Short trail that must be combined with the WOW trail for a longer ride (still short).

Franconia Notch Recreation Path

Great Fun - even in a light rain

August, 2025 by georgerisktaker

Paved. Fast. Hilly with turns. Not a rail trail and the change was great fun. Do not travel when crowded. Lots of sights to see.

West Milan Trail

Would be a nice trail if maintained. Heavy overgrowth makes it impossible. Blackberry bushes with thorns will cut you up! Aug 2025

Ammonoosuc Rail Trail

A Great Ride!

August, 2025 by jjjtmills

After reading most of the recent reviews, I was not expecting much from this trail. But I figured that at worst, I'd ride a few miles and get breakfast. To make a long story short, I rode 17 miles before deciding that I'd better head back for the car.

To be sure, this is not a trail for casual biking or road bikes. The surface is really irregular and you do have to watch where you are going. But with a gravel or mountain bike, it is doable and 100% enjoyable. And though all of the ORV drivers were polite, and there weren't many the day I rode, I'll admit that it would have been even more pleasant without them.

I'm old and have only been riding for a couple of months. So if I can enjoy it, anyone should be able to.

Ammonoosuc Rail Trail

great ride

I’m glad I didn’t believe a lot of past reviews. This trail is great. Very smooth and a beautiful ride. I highly recommend it!

North Conway Recreation Path

I enjoy taking a walk before or after running errands. This path has filled a need in the Mt Washington Valley! The paved surface is welcoming and checking out the turtles on the north end of the pond is fun. Enjoy!

Winnipesaukee River Trail

A Super Trail

May, 2025 by fssn0wsh0e7

I've walked and biked this trail many times. Quite scenic in spots where it follows the Winnipesauke River but less so as it passes by backyards. Its a great way to get through the Tilton-Franklin area without having to ride the commercial strip on Route 3. There are attractions at either end, food mostly including a brewery, that offer a fun reward. Can also be combined with the Norther Rail Trail with a short road ride.

Winnipesaukee River Trail

Has gone downhill

May, 2025 by ellenkillam

I do not recommend this trail. We have biked this trail a few times in the past, but we biked it on May 2, 2025 and found that is has gone downhill. We started at the Tilton end and had issues right away. First McDonalds and the motel at the start point have posted customer only parking signs (not sure if that is enforced). Going through Tilton business area was not good as we had to walk the bikes on the sidewalk since there is no bike lane and not safe to ride in the street. We had to ask where the trail was as we didn't remember as it had been a few years. Luckily once we got on the trail we remembered the rest of the turns as there are NO signs. The trail is very rough and only about 1/8 mile is paved at the Franklin end. There were also some questionable characters along the way and what looked like a homeless camp at the Franklin end. As one review stated, this trail needs policing. It is too bad because there is interesting history on the trail and nice views of the river.
