Attempted to start the trail at Garver Park and almost immediately rode into multiple construction zones. Tried to ride on streets until Hwy 59 to get back on path with no such luck. Aborted the ride!
People should Stop comparing one beautiful space to another. We’ve biked, hiked, fished, bat, goat and bird watched along this space from a Tidwell/ Wayside access to Brock Park many times. It’s amazing! Each time I go on this trail I notice more amenities have been added. The trails are well maintained without changing its historic wildlife feel. The late evening bike rides or walks are fantastic. More and more families are discovering this oasis right in their backyards! I’m so jealous! It is phenomenal how most of the parks that connect multiple neighborhoods to the trails have been updated as well and allow easy access to this trail. And the older beautiful neighborhoods!!! It’s a sight seeing adventure all on its own. Simply the best built homes ever. The communities along the trail are a mixture of old and new, spacious, well maintained…no wonder suburbia folks are trying to find a spot. We’ve met so many friendly people in various neighborhoods. We’ve been invited to BBQs, offered lemonade and even invited to pick fresh fruit and vegetables from a couple’s backyard garden! Back on the trail…there’s an old railroad track that is the best photo op ever. And sparrows live there too! The sparrows look like bats, but We’ve watched them come to roost like bats in the evening. Beautiful! Did I mention the goats grazing on the hilltop on Saturday mornings? Also, one of the neighbors attached a single seat swing on this 20 foot tall branch and when you swing in it it feels like you’re swinging out over Halls Bayou. Phenomenal trail! We’ve added Halls Bayou Trails to our regular trail rotation which includes White Oak and Buffalo Bayous. Go!
Today was my first time riding the path and I started from the hill Croft area and rode to U of H and back. Whenever I ride solo I usually don't like getting on public roads for safety reasons but with the construction nearly complete I can safely say I will be here at least once a week. The elevation is also great and challenging as Houston is really flat. The path is very smooth and landscaping is perfect.
We live down the the street, and there’s a Park at the end. And the trail actually passes right through the Park. So we decided to ride our bikes on the trail one evening, and it was lovely
This trail is more for transportation across third ward and not the best for biking. The constant stops for traffic make it impossible to get a good flow going
Nice flat trail, lots of shade, very neat and clean.
9/6/24 Tried trail starting at Clark Henry Park and got about 4 miles in down and the bayou trial is washed out and construction blocks any possible way through. Rode back to the Clark Henry park and drove to park across the street from 6999 Alabonson Rd. Got 1.5 miles into ride and after several sections of trail was missing, the entire trail was missing for a longer stretch than I could see. It rained last night and the trail was muddy and impossible to ride. Had to walk some of the way back because of the mud.
Excellent bike trail for first time riders. Just over 6 miles total when you do the loop is perfect! Plenty of room for bikers and walkers. Nice scenery. Saw several different birds, turtles and a snake.
Not much to look at if that is your thing.
If you start this trail at the Milby Park trailhead, it will continue, unbroken for more than 20miles one way. The current map is outdated and incomplete. The trail is great, always with a breeze as it runs along the bayou with gentle slopes sing lots of flora and fauna along the way. The only confusion is where you must cross over into the other side before Scott St.
Egret Bay has the best section, 96 (League City Parkway) will soon have more bike paths. Hopefully more to come!
