Cochituate Rail Trail

Beautiful Walk with Lots of Water Views

November, 2021 by carolleepan

So wonderful to discover this beautiful trail on a recent trip back home from California. What a pleasure to walk where before we only glimpsed these views passing by in the car from Route 9 or 30. I easily found a few various entry points by using Google Maps and was delighted with the gorgeous fall views. Most of the path had some nearby water features whether it was Lake Cochituate or a smaller stream. The path was well maintained and we enjoyed the feeling of being far removed from the hustle and traffic of the rest of the busy area, What a gift to the community!

What a cool, beautiful, pleasant surprise. So glad I decided to check this trail out. Nice parking lot adjacent to the mill apartments on southern end. Road the entire thing including the T portion across the river to Enfield and to the west into Suffield. I will go again and bring some friends. So picturesque.

This is probably great for commuters of to get across the river but that’s about it. Poorly marked and poorly maintained. Lots of glass on the path portion. No historical markers or any other information that I noticed.

Great Running/Biking Trail!

I started at the south terminus and turned around just north of the 4 mile mark in St Mary’s parking lot while running 8 for training. Was fantastic… everyone was considerate and traffic flowed nicely, even when 3 parties met traveling in different directions. Thanks, Rhode Island!

nice ride

October, 2021 by drkateklemer

I preferred from Hillsdale. It is a bit bumpy at first. Rides on a ridge and along a river. We rode about 9 miles in from Hillsdale. Really enjoyed it! Interesting decrepid factory buildings along the river and a beautiful bridge. I have a trek verve 3 pedal assist without any special tires or front fork shock absorbers. It was mostly fine, a big puddle finally got us to turn around.

Upper Charles Trail

wow, fantastic trail section

October, 2021 by sensi3d

Since our last visit here the bridge north of Holliston has been paved and beautiful railings with info signage. A 12 foot wide hard packed stone trail with breathtaking views. The town deserves two thumbs up! The trail head at Holliston has been really spruced up with a coffee shop/bakery across the street and a railroad depot dinner with paved parking.Small parking area at Whitney street. The entire trail all the way is a gem.
