Nice trail love it. did 8 miles and want to come back again
This is not an easy ride on a bike. Parked at Harbor Park the route runs along the Waterside waterfront which is nice but you have to dodge a lot of walkers, sight seeing people. Then it twists and turns and signage could be better. Once you get out of the Waterside area it’s sidewalks some rather narrow. Again dodging lots of walkers. I disliked this so much that about 3.5 miles in I turned around and left. It’s not a dedicated bike path, the city just put up some signs along sidewalks. This was no fun.
I come here almost every weekend. It gets crowded during summer so make sure u start early to get a parking space.
Very nice atmosphere with plenty of rest areas. Be sure to be the sun down to avoid wildlife
We bike this last week and found that even though it is next to the main highway the trees make it feel woodsy. We loved the bike fixing stations on each end of the trail. The 10 miles round trip was well worth
Great ride. Rode East and had a great time. I recommend grabbing a small trail map early so you know where bathrooms and tool kits are located.
My buddy and I did the round trip this past Sunday, Aug 30. Beautiful day for a long ride.
Nice walk considering it’s in a city. Parts of this trail are next to a highway or subdivision, which is a little disappointing because it takes away from the serenity. But overall it’s a nice escape without having to travel too far.
We started the trail in Jamestown. The trail is well maintained, mostly flat and not too crowded. We rode out to the Sherwood Forest Plantation and turned around. 34 miles round trip. The challenge of the day was the Chickahominy River Bridge. Steep but fun and rewarding view when you get to the top. 100% recommend.
This was my first bike ride on a trail with my husband and small dog (flipped into a basket) and it was perfect. All paved, almost completely flat. It’s actually 10 miles out and back if you do the whole trail. It was a hot day, but a lot of the trail was shaded.
I am from Hampton roads but moved to Maryland 5 years ago . I came for the first time To this trail this year while on a trip visiting my mom. This trail is a gem I wish I had known about sooner. I also was blown away by the culture of this trail. So many people greet you while Passing by. It’s very humbling and refreshing. It’s a big difference from the many trails I frequent in the dmv. The “scenery was serene” and although flat surface was not the most challenging... a round trip jog/walk provides respective miles (7 miles)
This paved trail is awesome. Great for beginner bikes, skateboards, scooters, or whatever your mode of discovery is! There are Pokestops every 1/4 mile, benches for resting and portable bathrooms with water at the beginning and the end. Parking is in a lot with accessible parking and street lights. The trail is well used without being overcrowded, so you feel safe but still feel the openness of being outdoors. Great for everybody!!
