Anacostia Riverwalk Trail

Trail goes way past Bladensburg! :-)

May, 2018 by ferdinandduval

A lot of people think this trail ends at Bladensburg. In fact you can continue on beautiful bike paths all the way to Wheaton or almost to Greenbelt.

Technically, the "Riverwalk" trail ends at Bladensburg, but then the "River" trails take over. https://www.traillink.com/trail/anacostia-tributary-trail-system/

Warrenton Branch Greenway

Great community asset!

May, 2018 by laurastark

The Warrenton Branch Greenway is a beautiful little connector trail. On a Tuesday morning, we saw folks out biking, jogging, and walking their dogs. During our early May visit, the trail was shady and green with lots of flowering bushes alongside. At the downtown Warrenton trailhead, we were also greeted by a little red caboose, which was cool to see. There were a couple of street crossings on quiet residential roads, but they were well marked and the drivers were courteous and happy to stop and let us cross.

Holmes Run Trail

Great family friendly trail

May, 2018 by laurastark

The Holmes Run Trail is a family favorite. We like to ride from Ben Brenman Park, head north for a mile, and turn around. It's a pleasant, easy route lined with trees—and playgrounds! This section also has no street crossings (the trail goes under busy Duke Street), so it's safe and comfortable for young children.

Gwynns Falls Trail

Section Closed

Tried riding the trail yesterday (4/30/18), but flooded out and closed for indefinite period of time. Very disappointing.....

Jones Falls Trail

Urban challenge!

May, 2018 by tom.joy

With no recent reviews, I was curious what we’d find. We parked at the arboretum and headed south. Through a residential area and into Druid park. We exited the park and things did turn “gritty.” We turned around at the Baltimore Bicycle Works because we didn’t want to brave riding on the road to the end. On our return ride, we explored the wide promenade around Druid Lake and the Rawlings Conservatory. We left the trail in the Woodberry area to find Artifact Coffee for a late lunch and enjoy unique salads and huge cookies. The return trip had significant uphill sections.

Washington and Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park (W&OD)

Nice trail! Well paved & marked.

May, 2018 by opstadp

Rode part of this trail from Purcellville to Leesburg. We were short on time so only got to ride 7 miles out and 7 miles back. Loved the trail. Quiet, nicely paved, marked well and rural when you start out at the Purcellville end. Hope to go back and ride another section again and eventually cover all of it after a few rides!

Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail

Missing section of trail is now open.

April, 2018 by mrdtbiker

At long last the connector between the two segments of this delightful trail is now open -- sort of. There is a detour still but it is easily possible to ride the entire length of the trail starting near University Blvd and winding up in Hyattsville. The section that the detour goes around is completed but they're still building townhouses there and so (presumably) they do not want cyclists in the construction zone.

Cross County Trail (VA)

Not for Road Bikes

April, 2018 by dgoosbey2

I wish I read the reviews before taking my road bike on this trail. I started at the Lorton entrance and the trail quickly became mud and gravel. My road slick tires were definitely ill equipped for this segment of the trail. Better for cyclocross and mountain bikes.

BWI Trail

BWI Loop

March, 2018 by rtwinslow

Great place to cycle safely with a variety of landscapes. Everything from forest, a horse farm, to airport look over and parking lots. On sunny nice days it can be quite crowded around the parkinglot area. This website says that it is 12.5 around the loop. I have ridden around it many times, and my gps only records 10.5 miles.

BWI Trail

Challenging and fun

We loved riding this trail from Glen Burnie to Annapolis. Go all the way into town and enjoy a nice lunch at one of the many nice restaurants on the waterfront. The trail is well marked and safe.
