Mountain-Bay State Trail

Consistency would be nice

June, 2021 by andrewhughes26

The trail is a fun ride from Wausau to Green Bay. There are some scenic views and it is a very easy ride. We did this as a one day pilgrimage to our temple (Lambrusco Field). It is interesting how differently the three counties maintain their sections of the trail. Marathon and Brown do a very nice job, but the stretch through Shawano county is riddled with poor conditions at times. However, even at its worst it is still a fun ride.

Great Trail, well marked

June, 2021 by andrewhughes26

We decided to do a bike ride and took the whole family. It is a great trail that offers something for everyone. The sections that run through the forest and near the water are amazing with great views. We saw deer, squirrels and rabbits. There is a fair amount of the loop that is on residential and back roads, with no marked bike lane (we call these death routes). Luckily, they were not not extremely busy with cars. To me, that was the only downside. The trails is marked really well, with signs always pointing you to the “Green Circle”

Schrader Connection

Needs to go farther.

At the South end where the trail turns left to cross the railroad, there should be a trail notched into the east side of the railroad embankment all the way to Tommy's Turnpike another half a mile away. (The Iverson Park trail near Patch Street is an example of this type of construction.) In that area it would line up with the future Okray Ave trail that Plover wants to install. This would lengthen this trail from its current length of just under 2 miles to around 4 miles long ending at River Road in Plover. Most likely this trail would need to be blacktop the whole way because it would a direct line to Plover and a lot of people will go on it. in
In winter the snow plowed off the trail ¿can be used for groomming a ski trail alongside it.

Eau Claire River Trail

I enjoyed it

May, 2021 by rwp95tr7r7

This was my first trail since moving to the Wausau area. I enjoyed it. My dog really enjoyed it. Lots of wildlife and beautiful scenery. We went on a rainy day, so it was extremely quiet. Not sure if it’s always that way. The trail was clean and there were benches and trash cans all along the way. We’ll definitely be back.

Love this trail as it is close by... some big ruts need fixing and horse riders need to clean up after themselves. Otherwise... love it!!

Green Circle Trail

Nice Trail

March, 2021 by johnekoehler

I just finished about half of the trail today and I was very impressed. I started at Iverson Park which has plenty of parking. The first segment was on city streets in Stevens Point going through a nice neighborhood . Very little traffic on the streets even for a Saturday afternoon. The trail was very well marked with plenty of signage. The trail then turns into a gravel path which was very well packed and smooth. It was actually less bumpy than the city streets. It was a very scenic ride along a river and through the pine trees. There were a moderate amount of hills. There were a couple of nice boardwalks across some wetlands which were very well kept and added an interesting change of scenery. I highly recommend this trail.
