Wife and I rode the entire trail. The trail seemed to have had the shoulders recently mowed but there was a lot of small limbs and large grass clumps on the trail from mowing discharge. The last 100 yards of the trail to the river is on a gravel drive. The point where the asphalt ends and this gravel drive needs a sign to tell you that you’re almost at the end. It’s very sketchy at the very end by the river. There were a few tables and shelter there. There were bumps in the asphalt from tree roots growing under the trail. We live here and love this trail. We walk it and ride our e-bikes on it and it’s been great since they repaved it. They even added a bridge across the river by Ichetucknee Springs State Park that connects this trail to the O’Leno Trail. Hopefully they will repave the O’Leno Trail one day. Be aware that sadly the locals also use the trail with their golf carts and worse, their ATV’s. Even kids younger than 16 drive them on the trail. Most people are respectful of the walkers and bikers but not all so be careful. Hopefully it won’t take someone getting hurt to get the rules enforced.
So it’s a bit rough in spots, some of the macadam is bad in a few places, but it’s a trail ride so that’s ok by me. You want perfect roads, ride on the highway. The ride down to the river is nice with a great lunch spot.
Years of trail neglect and last seasons hurricanes have made this potentially wonderful trail not worth your effort to locate.
Needed a paved trail for a run. Parked at Wesley Ball Park and ran 1.5mi then turned around. Not what I expected based on reviews. The trail itself was good but lots of trash surrounding it and stray dogs on this section.
This trail got a makeover that is now complete! It’s super smooths and perfect for a speed skating session. I love this trail! It brings you all the way to Ichetucknee-Oleno (which needs to be redone tbh). But this trail has such amazing quality and I enjoy the scenery north of Branford.
After the two big storms this year, there are trees that are down all over both sides , directly blocking the trail. Small branches and leaves cover 50% of it. A couple teams with chainsaw and a brush cleaner machine could take care of this in less than a couple days. I sure hope it’s soon as this trail is fantastic.
For several years the paved surface has been in disrepair, but it is being reapaved. The section from the north end to the intersection of U.S. 129 is nearing completion and it appears the project will include a bridge over the Ichetucknee River.
About a mile south of Branford the greenway leaves the old rail bed to run parallel highway 27. Why? The rail bed would have been off the road and a superior base for asphalt. Beautiful day and a nice ride to Fort White and back where from shock fork got a workout. Next Fort White to O’Leno SP on the Ichetucknee to O’Leno Trail.
Rode Suwanee Greenway from Ivey Memorial Park in Branford to Fort White and back. Didn’t know they were to trails. We enjoyed the ride as the weather was perfect. As previously reported, this greenway needs a complete re-construction. The greenway ends at the Ichetucknee river bridge. You take your life in your hands as you have to travel on the road across the bridge to Ft. White.
Beautiful trail but dangerous due to lack of maintenance. Signs missing at intersections, overgrown in areas, downed trees blocking the path and major asphalt buckling.
Contacted FDOT to inquire about maintenance, FDOT referred me to Madison Public Works and provided contact information. Sent an e-mail requesting maintenance but did not receive a response. Hope to try it again someday.
