Jack A. Markell Trail

A nice ride around the city

September, 2021 by m.p.schneider.lc

THe trail is well maintained, well-marked and relatively scenic. It almost gets five stars but it has a lot of awkward turns and blind corners in the top half of the trail and has some odd things where it appears to have access but there's a big fence without a pedestrian opening for no apparent reason.

Warwick-to-Ephrata Rail-Trail

Ephrata side CLEAN/ Warwick side DIRTY

September, 2021 by jwatts_tl

Ephrata side of trail is paved and clean. Warwick side has Small crushed limestone that just cakes on chains and bikes. This is the only local trail I ride that I have to wash the bike when done.

Another downside is the 11 road crossing that can be very challenging depending on time of day. With 2 of the worst traffic crossings on the Warwick Side.

Warwick-to-Ephrata Rail-Trail

My husband and I rode the 7 miles out and back today from the Warwick municipal authority parking lot to Ephrata. A lovely ride. Crushed stone and asphalt. Stopped and at Brewsters. We had the pork sandwich, delicious! Recommend this trail.

The new section has been opened bringing the length of the trail to about 2 miles. The new section is quite hilly and will be a bit challenging for casual and older riders.

BWI Trail

Really...you are circling an airport

September, 2021 by sjakobovic

The pictures posted are a bit misleading. Very little of the BWI trail is tranquil, forested, besides farmland or very pleasing. Yes, there is a true path that is well maintained, but you really are circling an airport and traveling besides busy roads the majority of the time. The signage could be much better too. Is it better than cycling in a city? Depends what you want, but it certainly isn't the country.

Baltimore and Annapolis Trail

Pleasant Ride

September, 2021 by c8

Not much shade. Other than that, a pleasant bike ride amidst the woodsy suburbs. Also, at the start in Annapolis, be forewarned that there is a hill to climb to get to the start of the actual trail; it's a doable hill, but I was suprised to encounter it. Best it be at the beginnig when one is fresh, tho! The bathroom (women's) at the ranger station was clean.

Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway Trail

Nice flat trail for biking, great for kids

September, 2021 by auntsheel

We had a great time on this trail. It’s a mixture of gravel, dirt, and boardwalk. I wouldn’t want to go there soon after a heavy rain because there are patchy areas of mud, but nothing you can’t maneuver around. We took my 7 yo ans 9 yo granddaughters and they had absolutely no problems.

Chester Valley Trail

Nice Labor Day Ride

September, 2021 by sgraham127

Fun outing overall. Smooth asphalt trail and well maintained with lots of shaded areas. Agree some parts were not scenic and were near busy roadways but crossings were safe and clearly marked. Lots of bikers, walkers and families on this trail but majority were friendly as you passed. Even saw a group walking with a large American flag…a great bonus to our Labor Day ride!

Northwest Lancaster County River Trail

Great for skating, a few sections aren’t skateable though.

August, 2021 by 4wq9frpgvg

This is the best trail I’ve found for skating in this section of PA. It’s long, windy, paved most of the way and only has a few parts where the hills are steep enough to be a potential danger on skates. There are a few wooden bridges that inlines can roll right over but may be sketchy on rollerskates. Also if it rains, I wouldn’t recommend skating until it dries because wet forest litter is like ice. I also wouldn’t go anytime after a wind storm. Otherwise it’s a fantastic trail with lots of rest spots.
