We parked at the Mallard Point Park area and there were plenty of available parking. The path was paved in part and some areas had well packed gravel. We have recumbent trikes and this trail was a wonderful trike route. It was wide enough in most areas to accommodate two traffic and the view along the Tennessee River was gorgeous.
One if the most peaceful, scenic rail-to-trails, but needs paving. Large size gravel is rough for bikes & horses. Lots of ruts from Elkmont to TN state line. Athens to Elkmont is easier portion. Parking & restroom at Piney Chapel in Athens. Nice lunch cafe in Elkmont.
Lovely Greenway along Guntersville lake with one big hill.
Connect to Bradford Creek with trail along Mill Rd for longer ride. Has a dog park. New connection being built at Browns Ferry Rd.
Went out roller skating on this trail starting at ditto landing and it was lots of fun. Great scenery by the river and then the trail all along the creek is full of other beautiful scenery’s. With the railroad passing up top, to the reasonably long straight aways where you can see the hills from a far beautiful flowers, and even the new homes make for a beautiful scene. It’s relatively flat and mostly concrete certain areas are asphalt and you might want bigger wheels for a smoother ride if on inline skates but other than that it’s smooth ride. Highly recommended and will definitely go again and explore even further north along the creek.
Trail is easy to find off main road in city with plenty of parking at trailhead. Thoroughly enjoyed our walk with our dog with most of the trail in shade. This trail connects to Hays Preserve and Flint River Greenway as well. This portion of the trail is marked for bikes on one side and walkers/runners on the other and you need to pay attention to that or get run over! But the trail is very wide and lots of room to get off in the grass if need be. Not a lot of benches to take a break and no restrooms until you get to Hays Preserve.
This trail is amazing! It is fully paved and is 3.7 miles along the gorgeous lakeshore of Guntersville Lake. Lots of areas to sit and picnic and watch the geese and ducks. You can even take a dip in the lake. Dog friendly(leashed, but they can splash in the lake). Our dog LOVED every bit of the walks and the water and geese! There is a farmer's market as well. Lots of parking at various points along the road and a huge playground/park for the kiddos. The city of Guntersville is very nice with lots of restaurants nearby. Be forewarned we did not see any public restrooms, but it looked like they were building some. There were port-a-potties at the public beach area.
We rode the part of this trail which leads from Wilson Morgan park to the Tennessee River. It goes through residential Decatur, mostly along sidewalks which parallel the roads. You must stop or slow continually for crossroads/curbs. The neighborhoods you ride through are sketchy with a lot of trash and poor upkeep. It’s certainly not scenic in any way until you reach the old downtown. Also, I’m several places it’s poorly marked or not marked at all.
....start at Ditto Landing early Saturday morning and ride to St. Thomas Episcopal Church for their Saturday morning Farmer’s Market. Great scenery along the way. Wildflowers and small wildlife - honeysuckle along the creek banks and turtles sunning on the rocks.
Beautiful view...I found this trail while searching for paved bike trails. It’s too short for trying to get high miles in but great for walking.
This greenway is only 0.5 miles long that runs along Mill Creek. It has an enclosed public dog park along the way which is very spacious for dogs of al sizes. The trail is paved and is very well taken care of with plenty of shade throughout. My kids and I enjoyed riding our bikes along it.
