Pleasant trail through wooded marshlands, but the southern end (from about 3 mi. north of Fowler Park south) is largely boardwalk, which a bit dicey for thin-tired road bikes. Also, as of 10/2024 a bridge was closed at about 3.5 miles north of Fowler Park.
This trail wraps around the golf course. It’s clean and quiet. Has a few gradual elevations but nothing hard. I didn’t notice at first.
This is a nice little loop now with the opening of the bridge near the baseball stadium. The only real point of issue on my ride was that in the park area on the east side of the river roots were pushing up the pavement to make for a pretty bumpy stretch down that bit of the trail. Once through that though, it was mostly smooth riding.
I do hope for more spurs and expansions to allow for additional access to stores and shops so that it can be used for much more than just joyrides.
It's an awesome trail. The park offers space for multiple sports activities so there are always people around. The bathrooms are nice and clean. Part of the trail is padded with a material that has a little give or bounce to it. The material is great for the back, knees and joints over all. My friend has knee problems and she said that walking on that material helps her.
It's an excellent trail. I’m so happy to see my tax dollars going to good use. It’s a multipurpose trail and park. Part of the trail is padded with a material that has a little give or bounce to it. I really like this trail for a hot summer ride, it’s a good workout with all the ups and downs but very shaded. So good for a hot and sunny summer day when you still wanna go for a bike ride!
My partner and dog had the perfect afternoon walk on this trail!
Easy to walk and lots of nice views to see!
We’re from Charlotte, we have a trail similar to Big Creek (Sugar Creek), not nearly as long…we really enjoyed our ride and look forward to coming back.
