West Ellerbe Creek Trail

Really nice trail! The section behind Costco is really nice. There is a cool tunnel under I-85 with murals. Be really careful at the Guess Road crossing. The western section has cool art work, and it ends at a nice park.

Nice greenway with a cool bridge over some wetlands. Drainage problems have largely been fixed, a couple of spots have “root bumps” in the pavement.

it is bumpy

December, 2020 by herman27262

It is bumpy and not exactly good for a road bike. If you ride on any trails, then it is acceptable. I enjoy it and it is very peaceful and beautiful. If the tree roots were eliminated, then it would take away from the nature. I highly recommend it

Tobacco Heritage Trail

We were skeptical about riding the Tobacco Heritage Trail after reading several reviews. But what a wonderful surprise our ride turned out to be! The 17 mile trail in southeast Virginia is well groomed and maintained with a surface of crushed stone, grass and pavement. The trail goes through canopied forests, tobacco farms and homey small towns. Our YouTube video of the trail is on our channel, Bent on Bike Trails.

Great Trail for Kids

September, 2020 by fi34xve6gt

Really great trail, we pulled the Burley on our bikes with our two year old. There are a couple play parks to stop at along the way, plus we ended up at the science center where there were paddle boats, playgrounds, lots of fun for kids. My app said I went about 12 miles, it was all fairly shaded and the lake was beautiful. Highly recommend for hiking with children.

This trail is beautiful and provides connection to multiple awesome trails that provide a more woodsy experience. Palmetto Trail is my personal favorite, but all are very nice! The trails off of this one provide varying challenge levels.

Great trail all to myself

September, 2020 by josh.boyer

I've biked this trail twice since August. Love it. The first time I saw three other cyclists, and the second time I saw one. It's all flat or nearly flat. The unpaved part between Brodnax and Lawrenceville varies between nice hardpack and slow sand, but my gravel bike did fine with it, as I'm sure a mountain bike would. The forest on this trail is hardwood trees. It was great to disappear into the woods by myself for a while. I'll be back, even though I live 80 miles away.

A hidden gem

September, 2020 by jules_phelps

Rode round trip starting in Lawrenceville and it was spectacular! We loved every minute of it. We rode with gravel bikes and the surface was perfect and well maintained. We will definitely be going back soon. With Covid restrictions, there wasn't anywhere to eat lunch, but there were plenty of places on our way back home.

Bicentennial Greenway

Very Bumpy

August, 2020 by waskess11

As others have commented , this paved Greenaway is not smooth due to many humps and bumps from tree roots. Lots of cracks and difficult to tell when a crack is a bulge or just a crack. Nice Scenery, not too difficult, but if you go, Be Careful and go slow!

Bikes allowed on western portion

July, 2020 by alois_tl

We ride this trail on our bikes weekly. It’s true the eastern portion is closed to bikes, but there is about 2.5 miles open for very nice biking. It’s best to start at Gold Park in West Hillsborough. This trail can be busy at times, but it is shaded most of the way with great views of the Eno River.
