MacArthur Boulevard Bike Path

Glorified Shoulder

October, 2020 by haley.sheehan1

I rode this out of Great Falls for a new view on the way back to DC. It’s a nice changed after the C&O Trail but on weekends, cars park in or right next to the bike path (illegally) up by great falls so keep your head on a swivel to doors and cars backing up because they aren’t looking for you. It has multiple connections to the C&O if you change your mind. So you can connect it to Capital Crescent as well. Coolest part is Glen Echo Park grounds

Black Hill Trail

beautiful in the fall

October, 2020 by jgeltmac

Very scenic route, paved bike path. We went on a Sunday after 2pm and it wasn’t crazy packed. It is true that there are a bunch of hills so be prepared for a workout. Definitely worth a try.

Mount Vernon Trail

Worth the Ride

October, 2020 by tanyalittlejohn

I struck out to embrace the self-challenge of riding the Mt. Vernon Trail. With the expectations of being challenging, while beautiful, I was not disappointed. As I began to ride from Gravelly Point to Mt. Vernon, I encountered riders and walkers of various ages, so much of the trail is easy to moderate. With a few hills and declines, it offers a great environment to take in scenic views of the Potomac River and get the heart rate up. There are a few places along the route to stop and rest, get a drink of water or sit at a picnic table. As I ventured closer to Mt. Vernon, the ascensions became more steep, so I had to encourage myself to push through.

Mount Vernon Trail

Historical and beautiful but can be bouncy

October, 2020 by ringogarcia1972

Super nice trail with lots of history in the nation’s capital. The trail connects the two original British colonial ports in the area - Georgetown and Alexandria - and then on up to GW’s estate. Glides along the Potomac with lots of twists and turns. Gravelly Point is good if you like airplane watching. One thing to be careful about is the series of bumps on the trail near the bridges caused by the roots from the trees next to the path.

Kent Island South Trail

Swamp Forest Trail

Somewhat difficult mountain biking

October, 2020 by jdrussell11

Had fun biking it, but didn’t expect the challenge. Rode the longer Little Jersey trail first, which was pretty smooth and flat. This trail is not smooth. Wife crashed 3 times. Not a rail trail. Gotta have some rough trail mountain biking experience to safely negotiate entire trail.

Cross Island Trail

Intercounty Connector Trail

Better signage needed

October, 2020 by mikezwo1965

This is a well maintained trail, with smooth asphalt throughout. Good for late fall and winter months with great sun exposure. It lacks sufficient signage. The most confusing segment is crossing George Avenue going east to west. There is no directional signage indicating where to cross Georgia Avenue at Emory Lane. Once on the west side of GA Ave, nothing distinguishing the GA Ave trail from the ICC trail.

Cross Island Trail

Nice ride on a newly paved trail

October, 2020 by tlockman11

Nice mix of wooded and open trail, good views of the waterfront. Will do this ride again.

Kent Island South Trail

South Trail a nice short ride

October, 2020 by tlockman11

We enjoyed the trail on a beautiful October afternoon. Trail traffic was very light and the trail's new pavement made the ride very nice. It's about 12 miles round trip and the pier at Romancoke is a nice stop. Just wish the trail was a few miles longer or connected to the Cross Island Trail.
