My wife and I rode our tandem bike on this trail Mon-Thurs beginning on 4Jan21. We parked off of Richardson Rd and went about 6 miles out and back each day. There are no bathrooms. There were very few riders/walkers. When Mel says she liked the trail, she means it was not hard pedaling! This one met her requirements and she was willing to go back daily for an hour of easy exercise! Watch out for two road crossings where the trail changes to the flip side of the canal! I enjoy a bike trail that is clean of trash, and this one was very clean! We had a great time!
Nice but a bit too rough for inline skating.
It’s a nice trail and I enjoyed it, but I wouldn’t recommend it during the summertime. It’s open and there’s no shade. It’s amazing during the wintertime though.
Made the drive out hoping to get out for a walk with the kids but the gate is locked and a sign says it is closed.
A great short trail after riding for awhile. Peaceful, relaxing, and perfect for a short burst of nature.

There have been several violent assaults on women on this trail. People keep saying its safe! However, I will bet the women who have been violently assaulted DON'T feel this way! THINK ABOUT IT! How safe is the trail if people keep getting assaulted?
A very nice trail. Pavement conditions were great with some places looking like it was newly paved. There was a few sections that were not paved, but they did not cause any problems (of course you wouldn't want to try them on a road bike). If you are ever in the area of Charleston, this is a must do trail. It doesn't disappoint!
We rode this trail at the same time as we rode the West Ashley Greenway. I rated it 4 stars because about the western half would rate about 3 stars because of very rough unsafe pavement. The eastern half was very nice and would rate 5 stars easy. Even with the bad conditions on the western end, it was a nice ride. Just had to be very careful of the bad pavement conditions.
Very nice trail. Smooth surface and fairly flat trail. Need more signage. We didn't see many signs and it was a little confusing at times. Not much shade so it was a hot ride (in the 90's). Might be better to plan to ride it in the morning or late in the afternoon or just during cooler weather.
This trail used to be in rough shape but it has been newly paved as of this year and work is still being done in terms of landscaping etc. I am on the trail on a daily basis and have never had any safety issues. Its a great gem in west ashley
A quick warm-up to the trail head by the ball field from the Residence Inn. 2 miles out and back. Few road crossings and intersections are inside a residential area. Very little traffic. Great scenery, flat and smooth surface. A nice surprise as I was going to try a hit downtown Charleston for a run. Glad the hotel manager made the recommendation. Enjoy this trail!!
