Lawrence Levee Trail

A favorite ride

June, 2025 by md_pearce

Great place to ride with kids. Perfectly flat, wide and of packed rock chips. Not pavement, but close. We park in the parking lot just north of the Bowersock dam and ride east in the evenings. Great place to watch the sunset, and often see wildlife. Grandson counted 83 deer one ride on Thanksgiving weekend. Often sit a while where we access the trail, to watch the Kansas River flow over the dam. Great place for watching eagles in the fall and winter.

Landon Trail

Great ride for windy & sunny days!

March, 2025 by wittsendks

Rode from 53rd St. parking area to the end of the trail at Shawnee Heights Rd. Tree lined on both side the entire way, so the windy day wasn't bad at all. Surface is packed cinder type material, ranging from 4 bikes wide, to to double track, to only 3 feet wide. Trail was smooth, except for the deep horse hoof prints. High winds had done a number on limbs & debris on the trail, but once these are cleaned up the trail will be great. Good to see the trail in use by bikers and hikers. The volume of traffic was pleasant and not too busy. A couple of road crossings afforded poor site lines and short response times to competing traffic. Didn't encounter any loose dogs on the trail. Parking area is in good shape & in use by many trail users. We did not see any encampments in this section of the trail. Note: there are no restroom facilities or water available on this section of the trail and only one park bench in the entire route. Hope this gives you a good idea of the trails condition. It's a great ride!

Route 152 Trail

Noisy

August, 2024 by dpate

Very nice trail that I rode a few miles on after connecting from the Line Creek Trail. I like the trail but the highway roar was too annoying for me. I did not complete it because of this. Great trail but too noisy. Traveling cyclist Facebook

This trail is fantastic year round! Be sure to take the time to enjoy the Ted Ensley Garden along the way. So well maintained and easy to access.

Good trail - loop now complete

November, 2023 by ddyjrl

We enjoyed our first ride on this trail. Not a lot of people and went through pretty scenery. We went on the south route from the trailhead which was a slight climb and then north by road and found trail coming back though this app doesn’t show the connection. The north route is fairly hilly.

Lawrence Levee Trail

not best for electric

October, 2022 by lesnord 1023

Mostly fields, river often obscured, north part has a section that is a small trail only big enough for single bike trail. Electric bikes not nimble enough for that section. Looks like fun for mountain bikers.

Weston Bluffs Trail

OK trail

September, 2022 by dan.allen.50552

If your headed to Weston, this is a nice side trail or Weston Bend State Park.Paved, gravel combination with ruts. The trailhead in Weston is hard to find, very poorly marked, word to the wise.

Weston Bluffs Trail

September, 2022 by dan.allen.50552

Trailhead not well marked In Westin. Some great , mediocre, gravel and rutted. Nice along Missouri River. Westin nice boutique town. Not worth a special trip, but if headed that way is a nice way to spend some time

Lake Shawnee Trail

Beautiful peaceful ride

August, 2022 by bradybunch84

Rode my bike around the trail 8/20/22 on a Saturday morning starting at 10:30. Beautiful day so I expected the trail to be crowded but it wasn't at all. Just a few walkers and even less on bikes. Beautiful scenery. Saw a sailboat sailing. So many flowers. Do stop and visit the Ted Ensley Garden (all free). Just amazing. So peaceful. Plenty of toilets along the way. Water to drink along the way too.

S. Lawrence Trafficway Trail

Nice trail around Lawrence

July, 2022 by mlane14_99

My husband and I rode on the majority of this trail on a hot July day. It is a wide concrete trail that runs past residential and open space areas. There are lake views and other smaller bodies of water to see along with wildlife. Although there are good signs along the route, some painted markings on the pavement would be helpful to keep from getting off the trail.
