Snow Canyon Trail

Do This

October, 2020 by acewickwire

Trail Condition: Wide pavement in good condition.
Signage: Could be better. Had one confusing intersection and had to ask for directions. From Ivins just parallel the road.
Comments: We combined this trail with SR18 (Highway 18) trail starting in St. George, following SR18 trail to end and then entering Snow Canyon State Park on the north end ($5 fee for the two of us). Had to ride the park road for 1.5 mile to start of Snow Canyon trail. Since SR18 trail is all uphill this trail is then a downhill ride and real sweet. Scenery is beautiful and worthy of the effort. Once out of the state park the ride is fine and parallels the road. Recommend this loop ride. We liked the counterclockwise direction. Can’t say enough good things about the St George trail system and parks, can only get better with time and more inter-connectabilty (if such a word).

Lava Flow Trail

Must do

October, 2020 by acewickwire

Location: Santa Clara, UT
Trail Condition: Wide pavement in good condition with a brand new section of trail at the north end of trail. A very short section of trail is gravel and still under construction but passable.
Signage: While not listed as a St George trail, trail signage is the same as the others in the area.
Comments: As the name implies the trail follows alongside an ancient lava flow. It is an up and down affair, not flat at all. Still a very nice trail. The north end of trail is new and extended along a wash to end at the Archie H. Gubler Park. A nice addition to the trail. Can’t say enough good things about the St George trail system and parks, can only get better with time and more inter-connectabilty (if such a word).

Sand Hollow Wash Trail

Nice ride along wash

October, 2020 by acewickwire

Location: St George, UT
Trail Condition: Wide pavement in good condition.
Signage: St George trail system has excellent signage.
Comments: Trail follows along Sand Hollow wash and away from traffic. Passes by a large bike park. Not a long trail but a nice quiet ride. Can connect with the longer Lava Flow trail to the west. Can’t say enough good things about the St George trail system and parks, can only get better with time and more inter-connectabilty (if such a word).

Virgin River South Trail

Great Trail

October, 2020 by acewickwire

Location: St George, UT
Trail Condition: Wide new pavement in very good condition from Bloomington Park south.
Signage: St George trail system has excellent signage.
Comments: When we rode this trail last March this section of the trail was closed for repaving. They did a very nice job on this section of trail. Now need to repave the northern section of trail. The trail nicely parallels the river and away from traffic. Very nice trail. TrailLink implies that the south end of trail has a split and both spurs are part of Virgin River South Trail. However, the spur to the left (going south) is signed as Atkinville Trail. The trail goes a short distance then a break in the trail and picks up again for a short distance further on. Can’t say enough good things about the St George trail system and parks, can only get better with time and more inter-connectabilty (if such a word).

Halfway Wash Trail

Nice ride along wash

October, 2020 by acewickwire

Location: St George, UT
Trail Condition: Wide pavement in very good condition. One underpass had warning about water in low areas and it really did have some water on the trail. Nothing real serious but did get feet a little wet from splash.
Signage: St George trail system has excellent signage.
Comments: This trail follows along Halfway Wash and away from busy street traffic. Passes through one of the nice St. George city parks. Has a number of bridge crossing over the wash. Trail connects to other trails for lots of ride options. Can’t say enough good things about the St George trail system and parks, can only get better with time and more inter-connectabilty (if such a word).

Bluff Street Path

Good for connection

October, 2020 by acewickwire

Location: St George, UT
Trail Condition: Mostly wide pavement with some portions of concrete but all in excellent condition.
Signage: St George trail system has excellent signage.
Comments: This trail just parallels busy Bluff Street for a short distance on both sides of the street. Downhill on one side and uphill the other. Trail connects to other trails for lots of ride options. Can’t say enough good things about the St George trail system and parks, can only get better with time and more inter-connectabilty (if such a word).

Red Hills Parkway Trail

Great Views All Around

October, 2020 by acewickwire

Location: St George, UT
Trail Condition: Starting at East end trail begins as concrete sidewalk but soon changes to excellent wide pavement for remainder of trail.
Signage: St George trail system has excellent signage.
Comments: This trail provides excellent views overlooking St. George on one side of trail and red rocks on the other side. Parallels a four lane highway but still a nice ride. Not a flat trail at all, expect uphill and down. Trail connects to other trails for lots of ride options. Can’t say enough good things about the St George trail system and parks, can only get better with time and more inter-connectabilty (if such a word).

Hilton Drive Trail

Connector Trail With J.C. Snow Park

October, 2020 by acewickwire

Location: St George, UT
Trail Condition: Very good with wide pavement most of the trail, some sections of concrete.
Signage: St George trail system has excellent signage.
Comments: Short trail but nice connector from Mayor’s Loop to J.C. Snow park. Can’t say enough good things about the St George trail system and parks, can only get better with time and more inter-connectabilty (if such a word).

Roadrunner Trail

Can Make a Loop.

October, 2020 by acewickwire

Location: Mesquite, NV
Parking: There are a number of nice parks along the trail with plenty of parking.
Trail Condition: Very good with wide pavement. There is one very narrow underpass at Mesquite Blvd on the east side of the loop. It is dark and there was some boxes of trash that could easily have been run into if not using caution. Consider using street crossing, not that much traffic.
Signage: Plenty of signs and trail easy to follow.
Comments: This is a nice loop through Mesquite passing through a number of nice parks. One of the parks had a spray fountain for the kids to play in. I made a loop of the trail, on the north end of the trail there is a short gap of no trail but can easily go along street to reconnect to trail. It is a very short distance and very little street traffic.

Bunkerville Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail

Follows the Highway

October, 2020 by acewickwire

Location: Mesquite, NV
Parking: Parked on side street close to start of trail in Mesquite. Wide street with plenty of room to park.
Trail Condition: Most excellent! Very wide concrete and great condition.
Signage: Look down…trail name and distance stamped into concrete at different intervals.
Comments: TrailLink trail map is incorrect at the Bunkerville end of trail. Trail continues along the highway and not into town as indicated by map. The trail then ends at N 2nd W street. The streets of Bunkerville have recently been repaved and looks like a pretty quiet place, so easy enough to ride in town but that isn’t the trail. This is a nice trail, with a historical marker off the side of the trail indicating the area was part of the Old Spanish Trail.

Virgin River Trail

The trail has been completed and open south of Sullivan Park all the way through. No more detour on Riverside. Beautiful new section with new boardwalks and pleasant scenery and river. The wait is over and we are happy!

Fort Pearce Wash Trail

Short Loop

March, 2020 by acewickwire

Location: St. George, UT
Parking: Crosby Family Confluence Park
Trail Condition: Wide and smooth.
Signage: We rode several trails on this ride and all had really good route direction signage and some informational signs. St. George has done a great job with their trail system, other communities should take note.
Comments: We picked up a 2019 St. George Park & Trail System Map & Guide. The updated guide shows current trail info. This trail really is just a short (0.3 mi) loop starting at St. James Park. The map on TrailLink is incorrect, that shows the trail as part of the Virgin River South Trail and Larkspur Trail. Not really much to say about this short loop. Good trail surface and a short diversion off the main Virgin River South Trail.
