Nice trail!

We especially enjoyed the area around Copper Creek Lake! We connected with the trail coming from The Chichaqua Valley Trail at Berwick. Coming into Altoona there were a few hills which made it more interesting. Looking forward for the completion of the trail with the connection to Bondurant! Loved it!!

Rock Creek Recreation Bike Trail

Challenging

May, 2020 by bikefar61

After the high school, I wouldn't call the hills "gentle". Even the ones that aren't as steep are long. Trail surface was good. I enjoyed the country landscape, and Rock Creek State Park is a worthy destination. But if you don't like hills, you will NOT like this trail.

We simply walked from marsh in south Ankeny up to Oralabor. We saw a Oriole, Indigo Bunting, and had a beautiful Goldfinch fly up to two feet of us on a tree branch. There were several off trails from the main one. The second marsh had several turtles sunning themselves on a log. We are looking forward to walking this again.

Inline Skater Review

April, 2020 by karleeemerson2

Good trail. Started at Bondurant parking lot and went about 6 miles toward Berwick/Ankeny-ish direction, so this is the portion of the trail I’m speaking for. No major hazards like cracks or uneven pavement that tripped me up. A decent amount of road crossings to look out for. There was a decent sized hill near the start, so just prep for that. Other than that, it was somewhat flat. A little bit downhill on the way there in some spots, but nothing major. A decent amount of road crossings with the little red rumble strips which can be tricky. Also, toward where I parked there was some cobblestone to get on the trail. Hard to skate on, so I walked in the grass around. Inconvenient but not a huge deal. Overall, decent trail. Pretty smooth concrete, looks new. Not amazingly scenic, but a nice view. Would recommend if you’re just looking to get out for a ride.

Colby Woods Trail

Nice and scenic

April, 2020 by cysublime2

This is a short trail but great for children. Very scenic, amongst woods and a creek and lots of wildlife including a family of deer. Baskin Robins is off the trail if you want to stop for an ice cream.

Ewing Park Trail

Nice paved trail for walk or biking. It is just short of a mile. When we came to the end, we treked up the hill back to our car. That probably added to a full mile. Also, appears people can enjoy frisbee golf.
