Silver Comet Trail

One of the Best in the Land

August, 2020 by c92vette

Of all of the trails I have ridden on across the country this is one of the best maintained and secure trails there is. Yes, secure as it is patrolled by several county sheriffs that it passes through. I have ridden this trail start to finish and back encountering the sheriff for the county almost every time. It's one of Georgia's best kept activity trails if not across the nation.

Noonday Creek Trail

Only Ridden the Southern Part

August, 2020 by c92vette

This trail has it's moments. There are parts where you are deep into the woods or so it seems. But other parts are right along busy streets with lots of noise. The trail could have been routed better if right of ways could have been gotten. Noonday Creek does run under the local airport runway so it is impractical to have the trail go there. But other parts of the trail that deviate away from Noonday take away from what could have been. Traffic is an issue on many parts of the trail and I watch carefully as the motorists don't care about cyclists. They look the other way as they turn right on red without stopping. Besides that once the trail passes the end of the airport where there is a nice playground constructed and goes off along the creek it has two sections that are real nice. The sections aren't that long but provide a nice quiet ride for a short while. I hope money and right of way becomes available soon in order to connect the south end with the north. Then when you can get away from the Barrett Parkway area it can be a nice trail.

Silver Comet Trail

Nice Trail, but...

Bike riders are a bit aggressive. Sad to see some on foot walking off the pavement for the sake of a biker to keep their pace. Slow down.

Big Creek Greenway

a perfect ride

July, 2020 by thepoetsuede

There is not a single thing I can find wrong with this trail. Well maintained Smooth grounds Good tree coverage from sun Minor hills Don’t hesitate!!!!

Suwanee Creek Greenway

Good for all except......

June, 2020 by thepoetsuede

Rolling hills, woods, water it’s all here but NOT for true bike rides or skates. Tree debris is on the pavement. Too narrow for bikes and the road swerves in and out. Perfect for nature walk.

Big Creek Greenway

extremely slippery not recommended for bikes

June, 2020 by ugmd20

Four of us rode from Halcyon to end of this section of the trail (intersection of McFarland and 19 up to Kelly Mill Rd). This section is mostly comprised of boardwalk that was so slippery in sections that it was hard to even stand on. Two of us had pretty bad falls. I would not recommend this section of the trail for bike riding.

Lionel Hampton Trail

Lionel Hampton’s gift to Atlanta

June, 2020 by shirley13

My friend and I have enjoyed discovering the LH Trail this spring. We take 4 miles walks morning or afternoon. We’ve heard the gurgling of the creeks, have spotted deer on the path or nearby and be serenaded by many birds. The hills are gentle mostly allowing us to enjoy added cardio without pushing ourselves too much. There are benches along the trail, a playground for young children and exercise equipment too. It is an oasis in the midst of SW Atlanta. It is favorite for walkers, a few runners and neighborhood residents.

Chastain Park Trail

Sunday Morning Trail

June, 2020 by patriciahart0291

I’m in wheelchair for one and half mile roll of flat and up hills, but I made it for being 78 years old. My daughter helped me up most of the hills. The dog came along and enjoyed it, too. Was a good morning walk. Lots of rest and water stops.

North Oconee River Greenway

construction stops much of trail

June, 2020 by n756tk

We got short rides going north and south from Spring Street entrance. The trial was broken up with highway construction projects. I’m sure trail is beautiful but check first as heavy equipment was everywhere.

Stone Mountain Trail

Inline skating

June, 2020 by neilakliebert

Nice path, but the hills near the intersections make it difficult to stop. Also it’s hard to gain traction on the slippery asphalt. Lots of water collected near the downtown portion.

Big Creek Greenway

Absolutely Love It

June, 2020 by gup.vin

We love this trail
It is a beautiful trail with tree coverage on most part of the trail
Running water along side the trail
Good amount of resting benches
Very well maintained
Zero complaints

Chastain Park Trail

beautiful but some spots narrow for biking with kids

June, 2020 by sherry3345

Gorgeous area but for biking with kids there are a few areas that are very narrow. Not such an issue with adult bikers, but a bit more of a challenge when riding with kids and trying to stay clear of the heavy foot traffic.
