Once you get away from the noise of 64 the trail is very quiet and nice. I enjoyed this nature trail
I personally love running on the boardwalk and enjoying the views of the beautiful hotels and amazing ocean. Not to mention the smell of the salt in the air. I always feel safe while down there. Sunrises are special and then you can easily walk or Drive to a local coffee shop afterwards.
The trail itself was great for our hybrid-tire bikes, and a good length. The problem is that it’s crowded with walkers, dog walkers, and joggers, many of whom don’t know how to behave on a shared-use trail. There is not a single sign about trail etiquette anywhere.
We had a really nice ride...had the trail to ourselves (on a Thursday). We parked at the Welcome center and rode from there. Enjoy!!
The sidewalks were in disrepair, the trees were hanging too low, the traffic was unbelievable and heavy. Not one cross walk signal worked. We felt in danger most of the ride! This was a one and done for us! Prefer the Beach Boardwalk area a million percent over this madness!
This is a nice wide trail, many shady lengths. Plus it connects to General Booth and boardwalk if you want a longer ride. Yes you have to cross the Atlantic and Pacific to get to boardwalk but that did not dampen our enjoyment.
This is the first trail I've ever ridden at it was a perfect beginner trail! I'd say 95% of the trail is shaded and I only saw like 3 other people on the trail
we brought our tandem to VA Beach as we do for all of our beach house family vacations. we have been disappointed in VA Beach-area cycling in general and this trail in particular. there was only a mile or so of recognizable "trail." the description says it runs parallel to the road and that is apparently because it's a sidewalk; and a narrow sidewalk at that. there was a good bridge connection to the boardwalk trail which was THE highlight.
Nice trail for inline skating, the asphalt is smooth and it's flat and straight. Nothing really scenic about it but even though it's along the road, you don't see it much as it's separated by a few feet of bushes/trees. Parts in the sun, parts in shade alternate. I wished they extended it north.
We did four miles yesterday and only saw four other bikers. Great flat path the shrubs and small trees along the path are beautiful but in some areas we had to go around because branches are growing over the path so if this isn’t maintained Mother Nature will take over and the path will be unusable and I would hate to see that happen! I don’t want to have to carry a machetes with me next time
This will someday extend almost 50 miles. follow friends of the eastern shore rail trail on fb
