South River Trail

Michelle Obama/South River Trail

September, 2020 by joymonique74

This is an awesome jewel in South Dekalb County. Easy access to the Michelle Obama trail from the GSU-Decatur campus lot. It’s sparsely populated, but interesting wildlife such as deer, squirrels, and rabbits. My mom and I walk this trail during the weekday and it’s very peaceful. Highly recommend if you want a peaceful walk and or run.

Rockdale River Trail

Hill, hills and more hills

September, 2020 by maritza.dacosta

Great trail! We enjoyed the trail. It has lots of never ending hills but it was a great workout. Trail is wide enough to share with walkers and runners but keep in mind that we didn’t see much of them.

Ocmulgee Heritage Trail

unkempt and disjointed

September, 2020 by kholbent

I had high hopes for this one, because I thought we he mounds, music history and cemeteries would be interesting. It looks like the city made an effort at one time to invest in their greenways and parks, but the portion we rode was unkempt and unclear. Lots of construction and little revitalization. Maybe down the road they will get it all together and it will be a nice ride.

Reeves Creek Trail

hazardous for Bikes

September, 2020 by wootton1

The bridges on the trail are wooden and have holes in them that are covered by plywood. I fell off my bike when my tire hit a piece of the plywood and was banged up pretty bad.

South River Trail

Beautiful Trail and close to home!

August, 2020 by joymonique74

Since I live in South Dekalb, this trail has been a jewel. From the Panola Rd entrance point to the Michelle Obama Trail entrance point, this is a hidden jewel for my area. It’s lightly populated and I’ve rediscovered its beauty during the pandemic.

Man O' War Railroad Recreation Trail

Short but fun

August, 2020 by dangerdave

This trail is currently only about 3 miles (Aug 2020). It starts out in the town of Pine mountain, and ends up near Callaway Gardens. Pine Mountain has a few little shops, and some places to eat. The first mile or so is through town and is out in the open. The second and third mile are through a nice ‘tree tunnel’. We rode it in the afternoon and it was hot, but the tree covered section was much more comfortable. The asphalt ends but there is a dirt trail that continues for another mile or so. We did just the asphalt section and started and finished in Pine Mountain. Made a quick sixish mile out and back. Looking forward to the completion. As I understand it there plans to continue this for a 29 mile straight line rail to trail.

Silver Comet Trail

One of the Best in the Land

August, 2020 by c92vette

Of all of the trails I have ridden on across the country this is one of the best maintained and secure trails there is. Yes, secure as it is patrolled by several county sheriffs that it passes through. I have ridden this trail start to finish and back encountering the sheriff for the county almost every time. It's one of Georgia's best kept activity trails if not across the nation.

Lucille Creek Trail

Quiet Trail Intersects Silver Comet

July, 2020 by paulfontenot

Lucille Trail connects from downtown Powder Springs to Shipp Rd. The first 1/3 in Powder Springs is not well defined in a moderate-traffic area. Once on the paved trail just past the Post Office, Lucille intersects the Silver Comet, then follows a small creek up to Shipp road, parallel to Hwy. 278 towards Hiram. (On my ride, I took Shipp to New Macland back to the Silver Comet to complete the square.) Lucille is a short ride, and I passed very few people on Saturday mid-morning.

Silver Comet Trail

Nice Trail, but...

July, 2020 by stockmia

Bike riders are a bit aggressive. Sad to see some on foot walking off the pavement for the sake of a biker to keep their pace. Slow down.
