Jekyll Island Trail

mountain bike trail

October, 2017 by rtfranks

We ride this often. The actual trail is 19 miles. You do some dirt, road, bridges, go through woods, over creeks, through ancient oaks and in front of the beach. Very nice. Needs lots of repairs and cleaning after Hurricane Irma.

Jekyll Island Trail

A must ride for the beginner or the seasoned rider

February, 2017 by racencason

The scenery is by far one of our favorites, the ride takes you from the marsh, to historic buildings, blending to the beach and ocean views, along the way you will encounter shopping and resturants, golf courses, the water park and nature. Simply a relaxing ride with mostly wide paths to alow traffic in both directions. No matter the season you will fall in love with this treasure of the coast. From the fast paced rider to the laid back cruiser, Jekyll offers something for all. We take our 6 year old nephew with us on some rides and he loves it even on his smaller bike. The trails are a very nice ride for our cruisers and our friends ride road bikes and they also found it a pleasing ride. There has been alot of improvements over the last year to the riding paths. I don't see many being disappointed after their experience here. Come for the day, stay for the week, or discover your home away from home.

Jekyll Island Trail

Excellent biking

March, 2016 by youker

I have biked Jekyll Island trails for many years as a stop over on my way back from Florida. The trails are in good shape with lots of things to see and places to stop. There is lots of history here dating back to early colonial times. Do get the brochures and maps from the state park. There are three short well packed dirt trails in the center of the island on the south end. The Beach Village has shopping and lunch places. Bob

Hampton Spur Bike Trail

Great family ride

March, 2016 by cardenm

We started at Frederica Park, road up to the entrance of the King and Prince, back down to Fort Frederica and went to the museum. We could have stopped in at Christ's Church, lots of things to see. As we road back to our starting point the overall trip was over 13 miles. A lot of fun and safe for the whole family.

Jekyll Island Trail

family friendly trails

The trails around Jekyll are in great shape. I've taken my family riding several times. Lots of wildlife from deer to blue herons. Lots to do and see. Great rides on the beach.

Jekyll Island Trail

Nice Island, Rough "trail"

December, 2015 by kriyaban.joe

Do not bring your road bike! This is a trail for mountain bikes or beach cruisers. Only portions of the trail are in adequate shape for road bikes. I ended up occasionally on dirt trails. Opted to ride on the parallel streets in many places just to get off the trail.

North side of the Island offers great views of passing bulk cargo and Ro-Ro ships. Seaward side of the island offers great views across the protected dunes. I clocked 16.7 miles around the island, not entirely on the circumference trail. All hotels are bike friendly and have beach cruisers; many are dog friendly.

Make some noise and maybe the local authorities will do some repair work on the trails.

JF Gregory Park Trail

A little Buggy is being nice

August, 2015 by tony.phillips.10441

I had been here several times before, but could never find the Trail Head. If you face the canal/water, the trail Head is on the far left and starts out Gravel.

When you come to the first Bridge, it turns to Concrete on the other side. when you come to the first trail on your left, you can follow it or keep going straight, the trail is not marked, but that is OK, because the Trail is in the shape of a Square. The Trail turns back to Gravel for about 1/3 of the trail.

The worst part of the Trail was the beginning to the end, with the Horse flys and sand Nats biting us.

We hit the Trail around 2PM, The Temperture was about 90F degrees and we were in the shade for most of the Trip.

Be sure to carry some Bottle Water with you, and a fly swatter. lol You might try some long pants, long sleeve shirt and a bug net for your Head.

My Wife and I may try it again when the Weather is cooler, and perhape the Bugs will not be as bad.

Jekyll Island Trail

Beautiful Island

June, 2015 by ajw

You have to pay $6 to get on the island since much of it is a state park. But it is well worth it. The trails run all over the island, and cover a variety of landscapes - along the beach, through the woods, through the historic village. Most of the trails are shaded and well maintained. Bike rentals are available at most of the hotels. There are very few restaurants, but many hotels. Get a map at goldenisles.com

Hampton Spur Bike Trail

Beautiful Island

May, 2015 by ajw

The Hampton Spur is just the northern extension of 20+ miles of trails on St Simons Island that will take you all over the island. Although the trails roughly parallel the main roads, they are separated by a grassy median, and are shaded nearly everywhere. They take you through parks, neighborhoods, restaurant and shopping areas, and to the beach.

Savannah & Ogeechee Canal Trail

What did I miss?

December, 2014 by barrymoss52

Got their with the bikes ready to go and found only a small walking trail along a portion of the canal (about a half mile) No biking at all. Not a Govt. Funded project for sure. If there were more trails I missed them for sure

Savannah & Ogeechee Canal Trail

this trail is only 1 mile.
