Heritage Trail (Manchester)

Commercial District

July, 2020 by david_weiss

This is the first trail that I have ridden that is split into two sections. The second section runs along multiple commercial buildings and is adjacent to the Merrimack river. There are many places on the second part to stop and view the river as there are many places to sit. The most interesting thing is that there was a Mulberry tree growing out of the middle of a stone wall (which is 30 feet down to the river) and which had a lot of ripe berries on it within reach. If I can figure out how to post a picture, then I will do so of the tree. Although not adjacent to rails, I would recommend this trail.

Mass Central Rail Trail

Westwood to Wayland section

June, 2020 by jadsmith001

This section has been open for a year or two now (June 2020) and is excellent condition all along following the power lines. Approximately 4 miles long end to end with nice smooth black top ideal for cycling, now also attracting walkers, skaters etc. There are footpaths into the adjacent woods.
There is a car park at the Wayland end easily accessible from the intersection of rte 126 and 27. At the eastern end the last access point is at Church Street, Weston. Further east it just dead ends at a decrepit bridge.

Nashua River Rail Trail

Great Trail and Fun for All Levels!

June, 2020 by nhsteeler

We started at the far north end in Nashua where there is a decent sized lot. About a mile in you cross the state line where there is a second parking lot. Pepperell is about 3 miles from there, and there is an ice cream stop there you should hit. Trail is well kept, and marked. We completed the whole thing round trip in 2.5 hours. For small ride do Nashua to Pepperell.

Blackstone River Greenway

Actual Path

June, 2020 by josephspaziano

The actual bike path, itself, is just a bit over 11 miles. The southern end starts at Blackstone Valley Prep high school in Cumberland. The northern end starts in Woonsocket near Mendon rd. It does connect to the East Bay, but it is about 7 miles of street in between Cumberland and Providence.

Superb Ride + Lunch @ Sunset Cafe

June, 2020 by matthewgray.design

Smooth ride with few interruptions. Fairly busy but it was a sunny Sunday and Father's Day. The trail maintenance was immaculate minus a minor detour in Barrington; they had it temporarily blockaded for tree trimming work.

Polite riders and walkers along the way. Loved the trail-friendly stops and shops from beginning to end. Watchemoket Cove isthmus is truly picturesque.

Must stop at Sunset Cafe in Bristol! Cheerful mom-and-pop serving up hearty and flavorful sandwiches for a fair price.

Good Connector and Nature Spot

I primarily use this trail as a connector to the new Garrison Trail from Hale St. Really great for that. I’ve used it as a scenic rest stop for a snack, and i’ve seen Herons in the swamp.

Dover Community Trail

Dover Community Trail - Very Nice

June, 2020 by david_weiss

Although some reviews were disappointed with the trail surface, I thought it was much better than others I have ridden. I found minimal ruts. I did like that it ran parallel to the Cocheco River. The sounds of the running river and views of it were great. The part that ran through Dover itself were refreshing. It also runs by the Dover Baseball fields. Porta-Potties were available at the ball fields although they were in poor shape.

—We really enjoyed this urban ride through Hudson and Marlborough. Start at the Hudson trailhead so the return trip is downhill. Scenic Lake overview in the middle is perfect for a picnic lunch. We hit Greater Effect brew pub on the way back. Plenty of outdoor seating for these tricky times. About 10 miles round trip.

Lovely Hidden Walking Trail

June, 2020 by mburdick13

I’ve lived just over the border of MA my whole life and never knew about this trail. Really lovely hidden gem! Particularly for walking since it’s only 3 miles, but there were many bikers that passed by. Would recommend to anyone considering a visit. It’s shaded and flat.

Ten Mile River Greenway

Scenic, quiet, pretty flat

Very few people which is a big plus in the time of COVID-19. Beautiful views of waterfowl. Nice paths to walk or bike off-road also!

Beautiful and flat

June, 2020 by emfish1212

Really a wonderful ride. Took off one star because it's pretty heavily trafficked, which is a drawback in the time of COVID-19.
