We did from a highway to east end road and barely needed to stop, not a lot of turns and not a lot of hills, definitely would do the rest when paved
We had a nice time biking this trail. Lots of downhill depending on where you are going, would recommend this trail.
The trail now connects downtown Athens to Winterville road. It's a fun couple miles to bike or hike on smooth pavement the whole way. There are water fountains and benches as well. Lots of fun to connect the Firefly to the North Oconee Greenway and bike about 10 miles around Athens!
We rode all of the open segments of the Cricket Frog today and it's clear this will be one of the most amazing trails when it is fully connected. Covington to the Alcovy River is a very nice ride, and the Alcovy River to Mansfield is rural and quiet with farms and scenic spots all along the way. Someday, I hope this trail connects all the way to Savannah.
We picked up the trail in Mansfield and headed north, to the Alcovy River. I love this old trestle and can't wait to see it opened!! Perfect trail! It was great to see folks using it during our ride! There were other cyclists, walkers and joggers, all enjoying themselves! Thanks for maintaining this awesome addition to our community!
I rode this trail for the first, but not last time today. It was a great ride, through hardwood forests, with deer and wild turkeys. I rode from Beaver Park in Mansfield which is 8 miles to the end at the river. There is parking at the park and a port-a-potty.

Finding a tail that is flat in Georgia I have found is difficult. This trail is flat and straight! Beautiful. And downtown Covington is so cute!
The gate connecting the trail from Ocmulgee Mounds to the Heritage Trail was locked and a sign said "connection no longer available". Signage from parking at Central City Park was poor. Along the trail from the park we encountered major highway construction with lots of mud in 2 different places. We crossed through places where homeless people were camped. We never got to any interesting areas of Macon. In the section we did, the streets we went on were in high traffic areas with lots of commercial properties and fast food type restaurants. Based on what I had read about the trail ahead of time, we were very disappointed with what we found.
Currently under construction. Will be nice trail when construction is complete. Ample parking and nice historic exhibits at main office. Will return in the future.
