Matthew Henson Trail

Slick when wet but very beautiful

July, 2026 by elizabeth.scuderi

A friend of mine and I cycled from Rock Creek to this trail today. It was really nice and a big surprise to me considering I grew up nearby but moved out of the area 25 years ago. It’s a little hilly and the boardwalks are super slick if it’s rained, but they’re awfully pretty.

Enola Low Grade Trail

nice trail

July, 2026 by aldo_desalvo

2 nice bridges and lots of rest areas. There is a lot of chalk that comes up from the trail I just did it on a 100 degree day. That was a mistake. It looks like they added new parking spots. I recommend it

Ireland Drive Trail

Nice Walking Trail, not great for cycling

June, 2026 by 6qgnhshmzc

The trail is a nice trail through the woods and connects to Rock Creek park.As others have mentioned, many people let their dog off leash and get annoyed when asked to leash their dogs. The trail is not good for cyclists as it is very rutted with many tree roots and easily flooded after heavy rains. The trail also has a very steep hill for most of it’s length.

Airbnb right on trail in Burgettstown

Discovered this comfortable place with great accommodations for two bike travelers. They offer a pullout sofa if you do not wish to share a bed. Indoor bike storage with a comfy bed and a hot shower! Distillery right next-door and two restaurants to fuel up in the morning to get back on the trail. Close to the panhandle of West Virginia. Their name is Harmony Trail Haven on Airbnb.

Kent Island South Trail

Kent Island South

May, 2026 by carrollb

I try to ride this trail 2-3 times a year. Had the trail to myself today except for a few people walking. The first 2 miles and the last 1 mile have a lot of raised places from the tree roots. Many places the asphalt is pushed up 2-3 inches. You have to keep your eyes on the asphalt in order to stand on the pedals or your back will be jarred really bad. At one point I heard a metal sound and after stopping found I did not have my rear bag fully zippered closed. The sound I heard was a tool being tossed out of my bag. This was a nice trail and it's a shame they don't mill down the raised places. Not sure if I will ride it again.

Easy to find once you arrive near the schools. It's a wonderful connector path for local residents to ride to the beautiful Smyrna school campus.

Northwest Lancaster County River Trail

great!

May, 2026 by nature.lover.3

First time with my new bike! It was a cool morning so hardly anyone out….and then the afternoon came. Kids. Dogs. Ugh. But all good. It was a super fun ride. In the beginning some of the asphalt buckles or tree roots lifting it up so you will feel the bumps

Capital Crescent Trail

good trail

April, 2026 by aldo_desalvo

The part in the city is pretty boring. You get a nice tunnel and an old rail bridge. The surface is paved and has a few root issues. Most of the path is shaded. 5 stars
