Spouse, adult son with disabilities and i rode the truman linear trail in early july 2026. It was a super hot day with temps in the high 90's. I was worried the brutal heat would create a miserable ride however there was ample shade throughout our trip to keep things pleasant. Before we knew it, we had reached the end and had gotten on the police memorial trail. We continued to where we thought the memorial trail ended and then took surface streets 5o downtown Savannah along the river. We had a nice lunch and wife and son explored downtown, while i rode back to where we left our vehicle at Mayer park. Only criticism of the trail is that it isnt well marked, other than yellow painted lines down the middle. Signage would be appredciated, along with some distance markers. Other than that, a good trail, smooth, level, and lots of shade.
We are beginning to train to do a distance ride and we really enjoyed this ride starting out. An easy 20 miles and close enough to have some good eats nearby. Most of the trail felt pleasant with the upper portion feeling a like - off- but nothing a pair can’t handle.
Great trail! Even though it was 89• it was such a comfortable ride. And absolutely beautiful views!!
My daughter and I had a great time on this trail. Mostly flat and paved about 75 percent. It was a great morning ride!
My wife and I took a three week bike trip in late Feb 2025, and happy we started with Spanish Moss. Nice flat, wide trail with different views of the area including neighborhoods, moss covered woods, water views and some commercial areas. There were a few busy road crossings, but nothing to worry about. Lot’s of historic sites along the route including the train station. And of course, lot’s of Spanish moss along the way, which for us northerners is quite the treat. Add this one to your list.
This trail is one of the best. Entire trail was concrete and very smooth. Passed by Marine base with Great timing seeing 2 launches and one return trip of military jets.
Clean and amazing to walk . My dog loved it too. Took us 1hr20 min to walk everything. Definitely will go again
Fantastic trail system. Excellent maps and sign on trail, easy riding for the whole family
Rode it from the entrance gate at Fort Pulaski. First three miles were in great condition. It is hard packed what looks like crushed gravel. Great views on one side of the river, but it runs parallel to the highway a few yards away. The heavy traffic noise detracted some from the experience. After 3 miles it separates from the trail, but in this section it is poorly maintained. There are some parts where it is down to single track. Large sections that are covered in washed over reeds. The tires on our tandem bike sunk in making it like pedaling through loos sand.
Really nice trail to ride. We did have some trouble finding the trailhead but other than that, we enjoyed the ride.
