Springville Pop Warner Rail Trail

Bumpy Ride

August, 2026 by luxstacey

We had high hopes for this trail and were disappointed. The parking area is a little sketchy and the trail itself is bumpy gravel. Some of it was just grass with big stones throughout. We actually turned around after about 3 miles because we thought we might blow a tire. Seems like it has potential but it is not maintained at all. The pictures are deceiving.

Kinzua Valley Trail

Horrible

August, 2026 by luxstacey

We tried all three trail heads. Tally Ho was washed out and impassable. Traveled up the road to the Red Bridge. Crossed the bridge and turned around and loaded our bikes back up. It was a single dirt lane with overgrown grass and wash out divets up and down the path. Didn’t even seem hikable let alone bikable. We ended at Westline. Road the trail for 3.2 miles and a large tree was across the trail and again, impassable. We turned around. The trail itself was “ok”. Some spots were pretty rough and we had to creep through to not be knocked off.

Knox & Kane Rail Trail

Aug 2026 Ride

August, 2026 by kjames196

We went on a pleasant, mostly cloudy day in August. Went from mile 58 to 46 and back. This section is a very nice, mostly rural/woods trail. The surface (crushed limestone) is generally good; the trail is sometimes as wide as a car lane, sometimes narrows down considerably (mostly due to the edges are not in as good shape as the middle). It does cross roads in spots, but most are not busy. I'd say 70% of it is in the shade, with some sections in the sun (but most sun sections are not long, so this would be a good trail for a hot day). Kane has a surprisingly large downtown, with quite a few restaurants (the Table 105 restaurant is quite good). The scenery is not spectacular (no dramatic waterfalls or cliffs) but beautiful woods with lots of large trees and pleasant fields. It was not very crowded when we went.

Knox & Kane Rail Trail

Started at the end of 7 Mile road and went to Kane trail head this time. Last time went towards De Young. Both times the trail is nice and smooth, shaded most of the way, and very peaceful.

Tonawanda Rails to Trails

linear park

A very well maintained linear park. A lot of road crossings though. Not scenic but pleasant. At the north end follow the signs to continue to the canal trail and to the Niagara River

Genesee Valley Greenway

Awesome Trail, do not attempt unprepared.

February, 2026 by ajsavitsky

I love this trail. There's a trailhead right down the street from where I go to school up in Rochester, and it makes for a great endurance ride on a late summer or early fall day. Typically, I'll pick up the trail head and ride south down to Wadsworth Junction, where I can then pick up the Lehigh Valley trail. Generally speaking I have nothing bad to say about this trail. It's pretty well maintained, has some beautiful scenery, and a lot of cool history scattered throughout. However, a word of caution: It was the Sunday before Columbus day, I had some time to kill, and I decided I wanted to take the trail down to the Junction point in Piffard (Not the same as Pittsford). At this point in time, I hadn't gone anywhere past Wadsworth junction yet, so I was pretty much riding blind. As I got further south past Wadsworth, the terrain got significantly more sketchy. Trenches, muddy conditions, and A LOT of hedge apples. Not to mention the sheer amount of leaves that had fallen making it hard to plot a line ahead. Against all odds, I made it to my destination, and back in one piece, having only wiped out once. The moral of this story is, while the trail is awesome, do not attempt with out proper preparation. If you're like me, and you like to ride a gravel setup for versatility, be warned that standard gravel tires are probably not enough for the southern part of this trail specifically, and you might want to swap them for something more grippy (e.g. a cx tire) if you plan on going further. Great trail! Ride with caution.

Springville Pop Warner Rail Trail

Too rough to ride

Trail has high potential but needs a lot of work. Large stones make it mostly unrideable and almost dangerous to walk. Mostly used as snowmobile trail in winter.

Clarence Pathways

Must ride this trail!

September, 2025 by jsteele47

The west shore trail was beautiful, passing through forested areas, biking through Clarence Park, then towards Akron junction and ended up at Bistro 93 where we had a delicious lunch and great conversation with the owners (we highly recommend stopping!) and then back. We did not venture to the peanut line, but will be back to ride that trail!

Started at Kane. The trail was unmaintained after mile 4.7. I then went to the Kinzua bridge state park and rode to 219. A nice trail

Nice trail and scenery

July, 2025 by oregonad_tl

We didn’t ride it all the way to Buffalo. We rode to Whirlpool State Park from Fort Niagara State Park. Stopped in Lewiston for an appetizer and beverage on the way back.

Erie Canalway Trail

rode from Henrietta to lock 33

June, 2025 by tnuhyllek_tl

Beautiful trail. Well maintained. Headed west from Henrietta first, a little secluded. Only went about 2 miles then headed east to lock 33. Felt safer going east. Full of exercise traffic… love to see that!
