Black Diamond Trail

Beautiful, shady and well built; little signage

July, 2017 by dick.feldman

My wife and i took our tandem bike from Cass Park to Gorge Rd. yesterday. It was a very pleasant ride and beautiful through the shady woods mostly. The interchanges with crossing roads were well marked. One problem was finding it in the first place. We didn't see any signs from the Cass Park trail and ended up crossing several grassy areas to find our way onto the trail. I don't see how a visitor to the area would find it at all.

Catharine Valley Trail

First time on this trail

July, 2017 by hschler

Began in Watkins Glen. Rather than riding through town which is very crowded during the summer especially holiday weekends and race weekends, I parked at Watkins Glen High School where the trail runs right next to one of their parking lots. School is closed and the only other cars had bike racks on them also. It is a GREAT trail and you will love it but let me give you some pointers. The trail is NOT well marked. I made two errors and would have made more if I hadnt asked directions. The trail twice puts you onto city roads with no signs which way to go, in each case go left and look for signs. The trail is almost exclusively uphill from Watkins with a very long but gradual grade. Great ride, lots of shade, saw deer in my path and many small critters. Very few people. The end is not marked at all just turns to heavy stone and grass.

Keuka Outlet Trail

Beautiful Trail

May, 2017 by calicocollie

On Wednesday, 5/10/17 I parked at the baseball field in Penn Yan and walked about 2.3 miles with my dog, then turned around and we walked back to the car. Beautiful flowers and peaceful views. I used the restroom about 1/4 mile from the baseball field and found it very clean.

On Sunday, 5/14/17 I returned with my husband, daughter, and dog. We parked at the baseball field and walked about 3.5 miles out, then turned around and walked back to the car. Beautiful views again (despite the rain that started halfway through), but this time the restroom was locked. I highly recommend the trail, but wanted to warn others that the restrooms shown on the map may or may not be available.

Big Flats Trail

Big Flats, NY

May, 2017 by kpsementilli

May 2017. Trail in good shape, clean, flat, easy stroll or good run. West half is along water with numerous birds and ducks. Open to sky. East half is lined by trees and totally shaded. Free share bicycles available at western edge of trail. Fabulous Sperr Memorial Park half way. Pavilion, fishing, grilling, and biffies available. And a horseshoe pit! Lovely and calm.

Taughannock to Ithaca

April, 2017 by gdmurphey

You can now ride from Cass Park in Ithaca to Taughannock State park or vice / versa. My recent ride on a recumbent trike was awesome!! Great surface for ALL types of bikes / trikes, beautiful scenery -- A five star trail!!!!

Black Diamond Trail

Fantastic trail

April, 2017 by katherine.lockwood444

This is a great trail for walking or cycling. The grade is gentle, and the stone-dust surface is excellent.

Reviews from prior to the opening of the trail in Fall, 2016 should be ignored, as they reflect the undeveloped condition of the trail.

Keuka Outlet Trail

A magical place

October, 2016 by lionsmoon11559

I have walked, rode my bike and ridden my horse on all parts of this trail. It is an amazing place with seasonal changes that make it different every time you go. My favorite time is May when the whole trail is decorated with wild lilacs of white, pink and purple. It is a lush fairyland. A word of caution regarding horseback riding. Approximately 1/2 mile from Dundee trailhead the overpass of Route 14A crosses over the trail. You can start to hear the traffic long before you get near it. My horse who is usually spook proof would not continue on the trail. She reluctantly allowed me to lead her with me on foot but the noise is awful. I would never again take my horse on that last 1/2 mile stretch. I will bike it to the end next time. In Dundee continue on Seneca Street to dead end at a small lake parking area. Very pretty view of the lake. I always take my visiting friends to walk the trail. It is always awesome. The history of the trail is quite interesting to read about.
