Pacific Way Trail

Nice trail

We ride this one routinely. Flat hard packed gravel with a slight crown. Low traffic and an overall quiet setting. It is open all the way through including past the golf course, there are just gates to keep cars out.

Chehalis Western Trail

not what it used to be

August, 2025 by eddebm

So I have been riding rail trails all over the country for the past number of years. Living in the northwest, the Chehalis western Trail was one of my favorites of all times. I just rode it the other day, for the first time in about five years. I am very sad to say that it was not a very fun ride. There are so many tree root bumps on the trail now. If you’re on a mountain bike or a big tire E bike, it may not be an issue, but if you’re on a road bike moving at any kind of speed, it just is not a lot of fun. Still a lot of beauty and the trail is otherwise amazing. But I’m not gonna be back on for a while.

Green River Trail

Would be great with more signs!

July, 2025 by 54h4thd7km

I turned around early in fear of getting lost! I had to stop a few times to figure out where I was so eventually I just navigated back to my car. The spots I rode were great though!

Green River Trail

Flat Trail Beauty

I had not been on this trail for over a decade. I was in the area so decided to try it again. This time I made a nice loop route connecting the Green River Trail with the Interurban trail to add some nice mileage. I took the trail on 4/11/25 on a Friday morning from the Starfire Sports Complex. There was very low traffic on the trail and I enjoyed meandering along the river with it's curves. This is a peaceful journey through a high metropolitan area. It's a great break from the road traffic. At every crossing of a major street there are signals to use. I highly recommend trying out this trail and using connections for a decent bike route.

Water Flume Line Trail

It's a nice trail. I've walked it a few times. Areas to sit. Safe crosswalks. It's got a few greenbelt areas that are interesting to explore. Pretty safe. Great for a bike ride too, I have biked it. Had to review it. It's worthy of a hike.

Chehalis Western Trail

E bikes?

October, 2024 by mlv.lb

I was on the Yelm - Tenino trail today when about a dozen riders on E-Bikes and E-scooters came down the Chehalis Western trail to where it meets the Yelm trail. Is there some exception for E-bikes? I thought they would be considered "motorized" vehicles. What were they doing on the trail? So outside of the irritation I felt about that, the trail itself was great! I'm just getting back to riding after knee replacement so a relatively level trail out in the country that I could do some easy distance on was perfect!

Bridge closure E of S. Prairie

September, 2024 by ron242

My trailhead is always the lot at 423 Washington Av SE, Orting; heading east to Buckley from there avoids the majority of urban and traffic.

But the Spiketon Ditch Bridge 9 miles on (1.6 mi past S. Prairie) is currently closed, as "structurally compromised." Trail is blocked. It's a turnaround.

I do truly love the 9 miles that are open, sections along the Carbon River, others lined with woods, through farmlands, in and out of the small town of South Prairie, views of Mt. Ranier, ...

If I was a local I’m sure it’s great. As a tourist doing bicycle trails it was ok

Foothills Trail (WA)

Easy long ride on a sunny day

August, 2024 by bkabat1

Nice paved trail. Of the 20 miles between Puyallup and Buckley, MOSTLY I SAW FOLIAGE, farms, some homes. I went there and back, thus, 40 miles. With bike I departed Puyallup parking at Monday noon, so very few people using it. 78 and blue skies, Mt. Rainier was present in my sights. Super easy as there is nothing much to call a hill. Some complain about road noise, and around Orting, the trail runs along the road and through this town, so sure, noise there. (I ride with some good earbuds in listening to podcasts, so noise nearby noise is just not a factor for me.) But before and after Orting noise or traffic scenes were not present. Of course, you can turn around to you head back to your car at any point, making this a 15 mile, 30, or such. This is a bike path to just ride easy and enjoy; no sweat.
