West Shore Trail

Good but rough ¿

April, 2025 by jasonbrozic

I ran on this trail yesterday - the paved section in Churchville is like everyone says it is, very nice and smooth and a great little walking area for villagers and visitors, it’s very short but still very nice and quaint; the rest of the trail heading west to Bergen, is quite rough - I parked at the parking area by the train car and ran down to Rt 19 and back for a 4 mile run - let me say I am glad I was wearing my Altra Olympus trail runners as they have a decently high stack height - that 3” highway crusher stone is way rugged and you won’t only feel it every time you take a step but you can lose your footing on occasion as well - I myself did enjoy the trail as I don’t mind something different, I’m usually on the Greenway in Scottsville Chili area and that is so nicely finished with stone dust it definitely spoils you; the paved area is great for family and kids but going on the gravely area heading towards Bergen is not recommend it unless you have muck boots on and an off-road type of stroller as mentioned in comments before mine that there are massive puddles that are the full width of the trail in spots and there’s no avoiding them…. Also I could see this section being too rugged for a hybrid or gravel bike as well - an actual mountain bike with wider rugged tires would be the best way to approach it…. When it comes to this West Shore Trail just approach it with the proper expectations and have the right gear - a nice pair of trail runner with a thick sole or tall stack height will help you lot here, and use the proper bike on it as well, you’ll easily risk flat tires and wheel/rim damage if not…. As a runner I enjoyed this quite a bit and will return again, I definitely appreciated the swampy views and the birds and the wild life that make this trail what it is, it also has this nice empty desolate feeling once you’re moving that makes you feel alone and rather removed from the business of every day life, I truly enjoyed it and will be back again soon - very glad to have experienced such a gem…. ¿¿

Lockport Rail Trail

Half Paved

March, 2025 by chloe.madison.march

Hello Fellow trails walkers, runners, bikers, skateboarders and more! I’m the fellow trails walkers reviewer on Google Maps and TrailLink and this is my second review! The Lockport Rails to Trails is 2 miles long. The condition of the first mile of the trail is pretty well paved but the second part of the trail isn’t paved and isn’t really taken care of. I’d say there isn’t really a main attraction but the things to see are the nice trees and possible wildlife. There’s a factory around the trail so I suggest to be careful. Parking is across the street on Lockport Road though it wasn’t the best parking. I saw a lot of dirt bikes on this trail as well nice place for dirt bikes. Walked in October.

Auburn Trail (Pittsford-Farmington)

Late Autumn Bike Ride

November, 2024 by michaeljcarmody

Rode the trail on my gravel bike from Knickerbocker Rd near the Erie Canal, then down to Victor and back here in the late fall after all the leaves were down. The scenery is definitely different without the leaves affording a better view of the creeks and streams that run alongside and under the trail. The crushed stone surface is smooth and well-maintained. Overall, it was a great ride! Highly recommended.

Erie Cattaraugus Rail Trail

Great trail

November, 2024 by mzkzps6zjk

I have hiked several sections of the trail. Parts are still ungroomed while others are packed stone. The Orchard Park strip has parking at the old train station and is packed stone for biking or hiking. Beyond Jewitt Holmwood the trail is the old rail bed and is a bit rough in spots but still a beautiful and easy hike.

Two Mile Creek Greenway

Good Trail for Short Walks

November, 2024 by chloe.madison.march

Hello fellow trails walkers, runners, bikers, skateboarders and more. Im the fellow trail reviewer on Goggle Maps and on TrailLink and this is my first trail review! Title: Two Mile Creek Greenway Distance: 1.3 miles Main Attraction: Two Mile Creek Path Condition: Good Markings on Trail: Bad Extra Notes: Lots of Wildlife for a little bit it smells really bad. Nice bridge, Pretty memorial park. Parking by Shoreline Trail Here’s a few more details before you trail lovers go on this trail. I suggest this trail for a good short walk. There’s a divide towards the beginning by shoreline trail but both ways are on the trail either one is the trail they divide is very short. Not any markers but you can find your way around. Lots of wildlife saw deer, squirrels and even a black squirrel! Pretty memorial park with wind chimes, flowers benches and memorials. There’s a cool old fashioned bride with lots of graffiti on it. There’s a pretty view of the creek. One drawback is that there’s a sewer plant nearby so for a section of the trail it smells really bad. That’s really it trail lovers I hope you enjoy this wonderful trail! Walked on 10/27/24

Rochester, Syracuse and Eastern Trail

Needs just a couple of tweaks.

October, 2024 by michaeljcarmody

This trail was terrific. Scenic and well groomed. Sheltered from the wind. This was my first time on it and I could have used a sign or two at the intersection of Rte 31 since it wasn't readily apparent to me where the trail was after I crossed the street. Also, I clocked it at 4.5 miles, not 5, on my odometer. Still a great ride and I'll do it again, now that I know where it is.

Trolly Trail Fun Bike Ride

Beautiful day for a bike ride. Enjoyed the fall foliage colors and sunshiny day.

Erie Canalway Trail

The trail is well marked it's a bit tough going on roads through parts of Lockport. Once back on the trail, is well maintained.

Hojack Trail

Hojack Trail update

July, 2024 by otto

The Hojack Trail is under the management of the Freinds of Webster Trails, an arm of the Webster Parks and Rec. It is well managed and has been updated over the last several years with renewed energy. The low areas on the eastern half have, for the most part, been repaired and it can be traversed all year. Some soft spots are inevitable after heavy rain or in the spring when it thaws. Best used with mountain bikes or larger tired ebikes, which we use. It is a beautiful trail. If you travel to it’s terminus in the west at Lake Road, one can turn west on Lake Road and peddle a short mile past Bay Road to the new Sand Park, which came online in 2023. So, this trail does, technically, go to the lake, as you can ride out on the eastern most pier for beautiful views of Lake Ontario.

Genesee Valley Greenway

Favorite Rochester River ride and walk

July, 2024 by traillink user

I have ridden this trail from my home near the Genesee River into downtown Rochester and then out to Rte 252 / Jefferson Rd. Often I do a loop back home on the east side of Genesee River. It's even and well paved, clear on both sides. only some bumps and pavement that is a very little bit crumbly down on the straightway south of the Church of Love. but it is wide enough that never is a problem. Definitely gets lots of mosquitoes in areas. This trail follows the old railroad line and on one side also the Genesee Valley Canal.
