North County Trailway

Nice training ride but some issues

September, 2020 by ohsunjoo

Great trail with greens and manageable hills. But some dangerous crossings and noise highways. Recommend ear buds. I wouldn’t take my kids for whole trail. Just south is fine. Will definitely go during foliage season.

Farmington Canal Heritage Trail

almost 50 miles paves with any scenery is a 5-star trail

September, 2020 by pbundonis

I've logged about 20k miles of road biking across the United States namely in WA, MO, OH, PA, MD and FL, and maybe 10% of that on trails. To get to stay 99% of the time on a car-free trail for almost 50 miles (as a loop) is rare- and to have some scenery- is nearly unheard of. Thrilled to be in CT now and using this as my go-to ride.

Sandy Hook Multi-Use Pathway

not recommended for bikers

September, 2020 by eddyzhd

There is nothing interesting to explore here IMO. Btw there is no shade so it’s extremely hot in summers.

Setauket-Port Jefferson Station Greenway Trail

Excellent greenway

September, 2020 by humorme201

Took the family and it was very clean and an excellent time. Windy and lots of hills and downhill runs. Recommended

Savin Rock Trail

Parking Limited due to COVID

September, 2020 by millie7

This was a lovely, but popular walk. The only issue is that all but one small car park has been closed to non-local residents due to COVID. So unless you have a parking permit, you’ll need to head to Palace Street where there are a small number of metered parking spaces.

Saddle River County Park Bike Path

Enjoyed this ride with our 10 yr. old daughter and she was thrilled to bike on this trail.. competed the entire trail of 7.6 miles.

North County Trailway

easy, beautiful, peaceful, friendly, shaded Great for walking and biking

Pequonnock River Trail

Better from Tait Road onwards

August, 2020 by jenna.rajpal

We started in Bridgeport in the park near the zoo, but I would recommend going from Tait Road onwards because it’s a proper trail from there onwards. From Bridgeport north to that point is nice but more road noise and you need to cut through some neighbourhoods to connect up w the other parts of the trail. We had a lovely day out though. Hilly in places but not too hard.

Saddle River County Park Bike Path

Great path but watch out

August, 2020 by mitchell_b

The pathways are well maintained and the path is clearly marked. The only issue I have had is some on bicycles. I’ve almost been hit a few times by groups of people on bicycles ignoring any rules of the road. They will ride side by side and if you are walking, you have to walk on the grass to avoid being hit.

Old Putnam Trail

Trail Now Paved

August, 2020 by slipsoup

The process of approving and paving the Old Putnam Trail is finally complete. While the trail isn't officially open, it's accessible from Van Cortlandt Park. Due to a recent storm, there are numerous downed trees; however, there are worn paths to get around them. You just have to get off your bike a few times. While the trail was fun to ride even when it was rough, the new surface is very smooth, really quick, and accessible to all. This trail provides access from the Bronx to Westchester County, via the South County and North County trails.

Bethpage Bikeway

Half the Trail Closed

August, 2020 by ysaeed13

As of 08/12/2020, this trail was closed off by the roundabout on Bethpage State Parkway. I believe this is due to the damage caused by Storm Isaias.
if anyone has been to the trail recently please update the status on the condition.
much appreciate.

Me and my boyfriend loved it. Asphalt all the way! Great for foldable bikes!
